This seems like an unnecessary article to me. Brad Pitt is not a "celebrity speaking out against religion," he was simply answering an interview question. It's not like he called a town hall to preach an atheist/agnostic lifestyle. The author also implies that Pitt is searching but cannot find religion or spirituality, where it seems to me that he's not really looking and is content with his current views.

My point is, as the author points out, that in America we are free to maintain whatever beliefs we choose. Pitt has demonstrated that he values his fellow man as evident by his numerous charitable works and just because he doesn't attend that same church as us (or any church for that matter) is not reason enough to speak ill of him in my opinion.

I agree with Nick, it's a similar theme as audiences saw in the new Daniel Craig Bond films. We know the Capt. Kirk character from the original series. Both the new Star Trek and the new Bond films are meant to show a young and reckless man-child that lacks the life experiences to always make the mature decision. An overlying message of the new Star Trek is that we as people have the ability to mature and grow into the "Kirks of old." I like this message because it suggests we can grow-up and become heroes, rather than just having to be born with all the virtues. Plus the movie was pretty sweet too....

That's not exactly how it happened. He was never in posession of the silencer or the guns, but rather he asked one of his bodyguards/drivers to purchase guns for him. There isn't proof that T.I asked for machine guns/silencer. I know that doesn't make it all ok by any means, but legally, his sentence is fitting. And to place things in context, he went looking for guns after an assination attempt on his life that resulted in the death of his best friend. He cooperated with police in the investigation, yet there was no successful effort to catch the murders... If people were shooting at you and potentially your family with machine guns, wouldn't you want to be able to shoot back with one?

I disagree fundamentally with this article, and if you are going to cite T.I as an example, I encourage you to AT LEAST glance at even Wikipedia to gain some information if you're going to write an article. And it's easy to take a few lyrics from his songs and portray his music (and it is music) as being morally bankrupt. The overall theme of his last two albums has been that while yes, he did deal drugs and lived the 'thug life,' he encourages people to avoid it, that it made his life worse, and that hard work is the road to success. While everything you say in this article isn't incorrect, using T.I as a case study is in poor form, since he's on the better side of the spectrum, and in many ways personifies the American Dream: He overcame his extreme circumstances and became a household name, is an active father to his children, and shows more business management skills that anyone at GM or AIG (not saying much).
