<title>Texas Startup Blog : Global Warming Solved for $250MM</title>
<link>http://www.texasstartupblog.com/2010/01/13/global-warming-solved-for-250mm/#IDComment52058325</link>
<description>Alexander, I&amp;#039;ve been a longtime reader of your blog. Great to see you acknowledge the elephant in the room that is global climate change. Entrepreneurs have solved nearly all of this country&amp;#039;s big challenges, and I think climate change will be no exception. My company, re:char, takes an innovative approach. We are austin-based, and we build small power plants that convert farm and animal waste into power and biochar. Biochar is a high-carbon charcoal product that can be sold as a substitute for industrial carbon or as a very effective organic fertilizer. More importantly, the production of biochar makes our process carbon-negative. This means that for every kilowatt of electricity we produce, we suck a small percentage of CO2 out of the atmosphere. Our technology has been recognized by The Economist magazine as a &amp;quot;New Growth Industry&amp;quot; and &amp;quot;Top Innovation of 2009.&amp;quot; I&amp;#039;d love to chat with you more offline. Here is a link to a talk I gave last year at the Pop!Tech conference: &lt;a href=&quot;http://poptech.org/popcasts/jason_aramburu_new_energy&quot; target=&quot;_blank&quot;&gt;http://poptech.org/popcasts/jason_aramburu_new_en...&lt;/a&gt; best regards, Jason Aramburu </description>
