jaledwith.com : The Real Effects of Being Sick

Awesome! I haven't seen Anna in a few years. It's good to hear her name again. We both were religion majors at FSU, though at different times. Thanks for your kind words.

jaledwith.com : A Lover and a Fighter

Three of my friends were hosting a costume party. Costume theme was to be dressed from a particular decade. Rob came dressed as a turn-of-the-last-century wrestler, complete with mustache. We tried to explain to him that FSU was actually the Florida State College for Women at that point, but for some reason he didn't want to listen.

All Facebook : More People Get New Facebook Messages

I'm having some trouble with it. New messages from old style Groups (the kind that can send messages directly to users) are not appearing in my new inbox. I know they're being sent, however, being my Facebook Notifications for Mac and my Facebook Firefox Toolbar each say I have an unread message (the former gives me enough detail to know who it's from). I submitted a bug report with screenshot. So far that's my only complaint. Otherwise I think it's great.

Michael Hyatt Blog : 10 Ways to Create a Better “About Page” for Your Blog

I like the idea of writing an About page upside down. So often I assume my readers will be as interested in my writing as I am. I need to hook them before I lose them. I include two more things on my About page that you didn't mention. First, I have a colophon where I discuss the guts of my website, such as who hosts it, what blogging platform I use, and so forth. I also include credit (and appropriate links) for any image packs I might be using across my site. Second, I have a disclaimer. Actually, I think you were the one who suggested adding a disclaimer a while back, so I include it at the end of my About page. I work for a public university and a campus ministry, and I want it to be clear that my views don't necessarily represent their views.

Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : Having a "life verse."

I had the same experience as you, going to college without a life verse or even knowing what the term meant. I'm not sure I have one, but if I do it's probably Zechariah 8:23. This is what the LORD Almighty says: "In those days ten men from all languages and nations will take firm hold of one Jew by the hem of his robe and say, 'Let us go with you, because we have heard that God is with you.' "

You ask an excellent question, something I should have covered in the post. I use another Firefox extension called Firebug. I use the Inspect Element feature, hover over the part of the page I want to block and the extension will reveal the code used to create that feature. Most of the time websites will name their div elements either with an ID or class for easy styling. Be sure you find the top-most div, as the site might be using nested divs. More broadly put, make sure you're blocking the part of the page you think you're blocking.

Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : The Social Media Sermon Pause

I get to teach college students at a campus ministry large group meeting a few times each semester. Long before this was the "social media sermon pause" it was the "worthy of your Moleskine notebook sermon pause." I'm guilty of it. When I know I've just dropped the hammer I'll pause afterward. I equate it to a batter who just nailed a long home run and stops to admire his work before running the bases.
