I have a couple of ideas: 1. to make a short video about digital scholarship. it could be a "summary of digital learning and literacy" . we could perhaps interview the professors burton and zappala and have them share their vision for the class. then interview a few of the students to see what was gained from such an experience. then combine these interviews with some explanations of some of the tools that were learned and then place the video on Youtube and facebook and other networking sites. maybe i could even convince BYU to put it up on their website. it would be a good opening to the final projects showcase night to give our audience an idea of what we are all about.
idea 2: I have been talking with Jeff Witlock a lot. I am starting to get passionate about his ideas to incorporate micro finance in to the mix. i would be a supporting member of that project. see my comment on his blog post: http://jeffreywhitlock.blogspot.com/2010/10/group....

I think I could also contribute by summarizing your experience with and vision for a micro-finance tool by making a short video that could be put on youtube and perhaps an eventual website for such an organization. i would use only creative commons visual and audio resources and we could use it to tap into the emotional side of our potential supporters.
if not then i think that it would be really cool to just be a part of the organizing of a social group devoted to this cause. it could start small but then snowball and become a viable resource for helping many people with financial struggles.

What moves me most personally is bullet point 8 under the characteristics of modernity. Has anyone ever found themselves looking at a piece of art or a photograph, or read a poem and in the end there really is nothing necessary to say. There are feelings there, but they are already summed up in the piece of art itself and to try and say anything would be redundant. Maybe that is just me. I guess i am a modern man after all.

One thing that has continued to impress me about our church is our innovative spirit. it is really true that the pioneer spirit has really never left us. as a people we are incredibly resourceful and know how to leave our imprint on the world and society. That signature on the world will continue to grow as we master the art of online communication.
