Listen you absolute fuckwit,

As you would probably be aware if you didn't have your head shoved so far up your arse that you still felt the need to asterix swear-words and write comments that amount to little more than "bet you won't publish this!! LOL," we all have exams.

As a consequence of having exams, the tab editors do not have the time to sift through the drivel that people like you post on this website and approve them all as soon as they are posted. There is a backlog of comments going back a day. The ones at the top get approved first because they come up first and are therefore easier to see.

Unfortunately reasonable comments get buried under ones written by people like you who want to make sure that their initial comment was published.

There is unfortunately no group of moderators who can ensure that pedantic little cunts like you get to have your say immediately, there are editors and editors are busy with exams at the moment. In the 14 hours between your first comment and your little follow up, most people were asleep or working. The Tab is running a pretty extensive exam term service, but without the means of a 24-hour Indian call centre, the tab is unable to answer your every beck and call. So wait your fucking turn.

I don't think 1976 is particularly relevant to what the protesters are complaining about. No one is saying "do away with the international financial institutions."

The point is that in their dealings with developing countries (i.e. less powerful states), the IMF has often behaved irresponsibly and in fact stifled development and encouraged political instability.

For example, I recommend you read Peter Uvin's Aiding Violence, a book about the role of international aid and the IMF's structural adjustment programme in facilitating genocide in Rwanda.

Or Andy Storey's article here:http://www.informaworld.com/smpp/ftinterface~cont...

I believe it's spelled Dr. Ourke...

My point is that the Union, as a supposedly forward-thinking and self-confident institution, should have the courage to celebrate something for its own sake, rather than worry about tabloid reactions. The day that the Union attempts to 'spin' its events in order to escape criticism is a sad day for anyone who believes in acting out of conviction. A speaking Union is the last institution you'd expect to worry about offending people.

I never suggested that they should take a 'highly sexualized approach' as you imply, I'm saying that the Union shouldn't seek to conceal the mildly sexual element out of fear of offending people.

No one has criticised them, and yet they feel they have something to answer for. It's self-censorship, and you'd expect better from a society which is supposed to be a medium for free speech.
