I felt the film shows the viewers that no matter the country, there is always a struggle for the poor and lower middle class. Parents want the same for his or her child as we do. I was saddened in the end by the black girl who felt she did not learn anything. Those overlooked students are often passed-on by the system with the hopes they will "catch-up". Sadly they never do. She had the courage to reach out to her instructor. But he failed her once again by not offering her resources for her to try to make sense as to why she is failing. My French teacher is an example of how the French responds to "other races" She was taken aback when she found out the other minorities in class could speak the language almost fluently. But were not from a French speaking nation. We often have to "engage" her to look past someone's skin color and see the person.
