This article brings up a lot of questions to our system of identifying trans-gender people in the world place. I am sorry to be reading this kind of discrimination in NJ, which i believe to be one of the more culturally diverse places to be in.

I feel it has to do with the culture there though. People in NJ are not easy going people as they are in PA, there is a large difference in personally and attitude toward other people there. hence the annoyance behind NJ. But I will love being from NJ no matter what. Its a shame that He got fired but i feel there must of have been something else that would provoke this kind of firing of a person. Hence why he has hasn't answered any precise information about the incident. Overall, i do not agree with him being fired. If he has it on his SSN, BC, and other important documents why can't he be Identified as a man? and what makes that job so difficult that a woman can not do it? maybe there is a sexual problem with a woman having that kind of job. for me if women want to do a job that requires some form of sexual content. they would just cry and bitch and moan about it being sexual harassment. HENCE a liability to the STATE. Unless stated that he was a woman prior to obtaining a the job, i would find no reason to have him working there as a Urine checker person.

Think of it this way, this is a woman being changed to a man. that wanted a job that is gender sensitive. Because it was a woman at one point, i feel that all the hormones in the world would not change that idea that there is a penis and peeing into a cup. just think logically and understand that maybe that type of job was not for him. but rather instead of firing him/her i don't know. you should offer a different position. There has to be something else he could do.

Alright, so if you are looking for the perfect guy that does all of these things, you should look no further than chumly's. I feel woman do not know what they want. MEN on the other hand know what they are looking. Let me tell you my idea of what happens in life.

Men know what they're looking for and women know exactly what they want. Its the women that question these feelings and thus the ending of a relationship starts. Its after this traumatic situation that a ass whole is born. The guy is always ready to make that leap when it is the RIGHT GIRL OR IF IT IS THE FIRST TRUE LOVE. The most common thing is WOMEN CHANGE THEIR MINDS. This is the problem with this theory of the perfect man. or what a man should be. THE ONLY way a guy will ever do these things if the girl is worth it. and what i mean with that is, the VIRGINITY of the girl is preserved or the CHASTITY of the girl pure. THE REASON For this happening is because women are grown very strong in terms of having their own view and their own voice being heard in terms of the WESTERN HEMISPHERE but this is not the case in the EAST hence the struggle for women power. but back to the main point. I'm not saying that women are not going to find that one and only after they give up there virginity but if you really put yourself in a guys point of view. A guy is not going to be looking for someone that is sleeping around, but a guy will look is a girl that STOPS this crap and thinks hey maybe if i wait and stop being such a loose bitch that i will find a decent guy. and OF COURSE women are going to be picky when it comes to these things. SO THAT IS WHY WHEN A NICE GUY SHOWS UP YOU SHOULD CONSIDER THIS. WOMEN ARE BLIND TO LOVE, NOT MEN.

So you see in my THEORY that women are the root of a jackass being born can be ideally thought about and should be considered not as me being an ass but as me stating that men are not the problem. this should be about what MEN look for in a women so that women will have a better idea on what they should do. Other animals choose one person. WHY CAN"T WE DO THIS?

many peoples actions are very self motivated. I can maybe see a hand full of people that would help someone else out in a time of desperation. Its hard to find people that would be willing to help someone else out just to help them out. I like to think of myself as a different person. I follow the same way my grandmother did in her life. she passed on to me not to be so self motivated but to help people without expecting anything in return. my grandmother has helped several people establish themselves in this country that is supposedly paved with bricks of gold. As many people have found out this is not the truth, not in the lease bit referring back to the RSA Animate film on Reforming Education. The United States has a lot of benefits if you are able to utilize them but for the most part it is one hard as hell place to live. But coming from a large group of people that are self motivated as we also saw in the movie today, it is clear that is can be very destructive. as so many AMERICANS that are born of this country are even being manipulated for the natural gas resources but of course the government does not care of these people. I can only think of what they feel they should do? go to a representative that is self motivated so does nothing in return? People who do not take the stand together will not accomplish anything and as Sam put it people just do not care as much about the out come of what our government is doing. people think they are all about helping us but so far all I've learned about and heard about in college is how much crap our Democracy is about (lack there of). what else could i leave you with but to be considerate of other people and to help people without question when it is needed because some day you will need their help to and if you are one of those people that turned your back to them in their time of need. then expect the worse to be the outcome because you know that what running threw their minds when they look at you.

The photos and video are absolutely devastating to watch. I cannot even imagine what is going on over there right now for some people. I have never experience any type of natural disaster. the most damaging thing i ever saw as flooding in my house and even that was a joke. Its amazing that japan's structural stability is this strong. There was not that much damage to cities from what i have read but as far as the towns are concerned this is pretty crazy. I just hope that things get better soon. its absolutely amazing what mother nature can do in the blink of an eye.

The guy clearly shows a lot of "white" qualities but personally I don't see it as being white, I see a Person showing some interesting in showing a new holster he got. If you are one that took Soc 119 with sam you will learn from him that you need to look past the colors that society put on the whole world. If it was a black person doing the same video would you consider him having white qualities? black people would probably deem him a outcast. This is something that happens.

Being of Colombian origin I have the look of very Spanish person. but what is very noticeable about me I feel is that i am very well spoken as opposed to the area that i am from that would look at me as if i was different then them. being from Paterson, NJ probably one of the most densely Spanish speaking areas I know, I can clearly see that Im looked at differently. What bothers me more is this idea that people have judging this guy and calling him white. If you want to stop wars and violence which I know is a long shot. You gotta look past this made up color system that was created for some kind of dominance over other people.

I don't see white qualities. I don't see black qualities. People that see this video and say hes white are just ignorant and uneducated to the mentality of society and its true effects on the human race. Race is just an escape goat to me. Ignorance goes a long way and you need to really learn to think outside the box to understand what im coming from.

first off, what a crazy awesome video.

Second, I agree on some aspects that video is trying to tell us. It makes it easy to understand that our education system is going in the wrong way. Our future is going to be extremely harder if we do not change this. and we have to understand that the education back in the day is completely different from the education that is required of us now. I liked how it explained that our system now is to standardized and that we should be getting rid of these tests. but of course our way of living in this world is based on how well you do on an exam. The sad part is unless you applying to grad school or furthering your education in anyway, you probably will not see your exam score in Chem 110 the rest of your life. but yet we put so much at stake on these out-dated ways of teaching. As far as ADHD is concerned, i feel that the show makes a striking claim that is not because of the students, that it is a fictatious epidemic that they use as an excuse to drug students into focusing more on our lame way of teaching. Sadly the level of technology is growing and its not going to stop anytime soon. These distractions are the key reasons for education diminishing. We are too into other things at the moment and our way of learning is too boring to grab our attention.
I remember asking my parents when i was younger why do i have to learn literature, when i wanted to do science? what is the reason in forcing our kids to think about something that they are not going to be interested in? I wanted to grow up to be a Doctor, but yet i have to waste my time and money on educating myself on say U.S. History for example instead of educating my self of Medical history or theories related to what i want to do with my life. a weak education is what we will have to other countries if we do not change.

I say there is a lack of discretionary funds. People have way to many bills to worry about when they are done trying to get there education that they have no choice but to start working and do nothing but that full time job. Not to mention that most of the time that people are going over seas its during there educational time period. Not too many Americans are willing to cut into there work with vacations unless they truly need it. I have had one job that offered me a paid vacation but to be honest, I had nothing better to do, so i stayed and worked for that and made double and managed to pay off some bills with it. Another reason for not going overseas that the article points out that i completely agree with is that America does have everything. Of course depending on what we are looking for which can not be that hard to find as far as a vacation. But the way i see it is that people are not going to spend money on vacation if they have other things to worry about. People usually have family right after college, and they do not have the means to take a vacation with 4 people. maybe if it was just themselves it might be possible but for the most part people are already starting their lives. I Kind of do not agree with peoples mentality of Americans be skeptical or ignorant. People in the America are just too caught up trying to get their lives stablized before they want to benefit themselves. Like Sam said, we are already born into a life of debt here and we are constantly trying to catch up to ourselves so we can go on a meaningful vacation. but once we reach that point we are to fixated into the working lifestyle that we can change and if we did we wouldn't know what to do. Another thing I liked about the article that is completely random, but I loved how they brought up the idea of Colombia and drug lords. People do not realize, that after the shooting of Pablo Escobar (a famous Colombian soccer player) the drug lords were pretty much run out of the country. It what fueled our soccer for many years. But im happy to say that it is now Venezuela that is the cocaine capital of the world.

13 years ago @ World In Conversation - Conformity Rules the Day · 0 replies · +1 points

The video was amusing. but on a seriously note, i found it to be a little messed up. as Sam put it society has these strings that effect all of us in some way or form whether it be the way we dress or just standing in an elevator. Or as another student put it watching TV with his friends made him laugh more they laughed as opposed to him not laughing at TV show. But if you think of this on a larger scale, we tend to have these conformity issues since we can walk and talk. We tend to follow people a lot more than we should and all for the wrong reasons. For instance, Sam said something about G. Bush vs. J. Kerry supporters, Not hearing anything that the candidates were saying but rather just because it was them would trigger some kind of dislike. This confirmation bias can at some points reach a whole new level, high school, or even college. what makes it so necessary that everyone needs to attempt college after high school? Well aside from everyone wanting to get a job when they get older, but isn't that a form of conformity or confirmation bias. we just do it just because society tells us this is what the usual schedule of a human being is?

Personally I don't want to end up like this my whole life. at one point i feel like jumping out of this shell that i feel around me that doesn't truly represent the really me. but i feel at some points i have already started doing that. By not being raised like my brothers, not following the same path as they did. I Say there is different levels of conformity, and some areas are stronger than others. not everyone has to be the same just because people are doing the same thing. but rather people make these choices to better themselves, not to fit in. I say that is why there needs to be some kind of understanding between these levels. Brothers who are raised the same way and conform to the likes of society can still be very different when it comes to clothing style, food likes and dislikes, or even attitude. These levels should be understood before saying that everyone is a conformist.

Morality comes from several aspects of life. some of the main ideas come from religious beliefs and how the person was raised. I don't believe people just gain morality from life experiences because any life experience can take that moral judgment for a ride. You have to dig deeper to identify some kind of morality. This guy managed to do that by living threw other peoples experiences as he stated in his letter. What i do not agree with is his idea that prison does not teach a lesson. The lesson can be what ever you make of it similar to how he made up his moral guide to a good person. Its whatever you need it to be to keep going. His freedoms were taken from him when he decided to break the law. Because of his acts he learned exactly what it is to be a good person and he can easily make his moral stand on his flaws as a child. he calls himself a hybrid prisoner which i and some what agree with because he says he a very moral person but yet is a lifer in prison. this is where the lesson lies. He learned that with time and thought. As long as he believes he is a good person i do not see him making anymore of those mistakes he has in the past. Lesson learned...
