If the goal is to get everyone to stop driving or carpool, how will you replace the millions of dollars in gas tax revenue? You have to raise taxes somewhere to make up the difference. So the less we drive, the more everything else costs? Do you raise the taxes on gas even more, so average Joe can't even afford to drive anymore? Remember when the water company told us to use less water? (which we did). Then they raised our monthly bill to make up for lost revenue.
Welcome to the Boulder Isolation Dome, where logic is replaced by "feel good" legislation. Maybe we should pay these legislators with hugs.
We don't need to reform immigration, we just need to uphold the laws already in place.
Zero tollerance is never the answer, but it sounds good when you're running for office. Remember the kid who was sent home for bringing nail clippers to school? Or how about the kid who brought a 1 inch long plastic GI Joe toy gun to school and was suspended for it. Next thing you know, you won't even be able to point your finger like a gun. Of course, it makes it easier for a school administrator who lacks logical decision making abilities.
Remember when you were growing up and your parents told you that you can be anything you want? Just wanting to be a mountain climber doesn't make you one. What they should have said was that you can LEARN and TRAIN to be anything you want IF you have the right skills.
My goodness, you folks live in your own little Disneyland. Why not try doing something constructive and get out of the Boulder isolation dome once in a while?
