A year is a long time in politics!

I decided that my life was heading in a different direction and I didn't want to spend the next five years flogging what I thought was probably a dead horse.

Given I haven't applied to be on the Apprved list, I cannot see how I have been denied access to it. I came off the list in 2010 at my own request and haven't reapplied since.

Yes. It's what I'm best at.

Indeed, and I am not defending Williamson for his refusal to answer the question. But if you terminate an interview you've lost. Pure and simple.

I wouldn't normally reply to bollocks like this but why don't you ask the Prime Minister if I made it easy for her in October. Ask Sajid Javid if he thinks I ask toadying questions. Ask Priti Patel or Rob Halfon if they think I am a soft interviewer or make it easy for them. What I don't do is go into an interview intending to have a row or be rude. If you do that as an interviewer don't be surprised if politicians won't come on your show.

I write this column on a Thursday morning so I'm afraid I couldn't have included that detail. I was quite shocked at the hostility to a lot of the manifesto. I wonder if it will be reflected in the opinion polls.

You are right. It was indeed the one in Park Place. I actually wrote this shortly before the lunch took place and I had been led to believe it was the one on Piccadilly.
