It takes a different approach to the budgeting system (and this is a huge difference) and you don't need to know where exactly every penny has been spent, you can just look at how money is left and enter it in the balance.
It's way easier.

An improved Cydia is possible: look at what the Rock devs have done. Rock is stable, never crashes and way quicker than Cydia.

As you said, updating is pointless for jailbreakers. No big improvements but a change to the baseband that fixes the exploit used by geohot.
Will wait till something better is out
