HopZine.com : Leeds International Beer Festival 2012

Thanks Stu, its good to get the insight from someone who was involved, I was a bit confused why Magic Rock, Buxton, Quantum and Hawkshead were sharing a bar. But from what others said that bar was extremly busy. All in all I had a good time, its a good start and I agree I'm sure they will improve things next year. I did enjoy it much more than the average local CAMRA festivals.

HopZine.com : Clown Juice

For me it really depends one what other ingrediants are used with citra and how much is used. In Sierra Nevada Torpedo it agree its more concenrated mango but that beer it also rather sweet with a good amount of cystal malt. On the other hand I've found a lot of lemon flavours in single hop citra beers from Malllinsons, Brodies and Kernel. For me if its heavier on the munich or crystal it brings out more rounded sweet flavours but if its all pale malt like golden promise its a bit more on the lemon end of things. When I've brewed with it I've always used it in large amounts late on with a good amount of munich and caramalt as I've wanted that fruit bowl type flavour.

HopZine.com : Quality control and compensation

Thanks for taking the time to reply in such detail from the retailer's position. As for Arbor Deeper Down IPA i did contact the brewery with my concerns. I'm glad the beer improved with suitable time to condition, but should it have even been made available if it wasn't ready to drink? From my experience breweries in the UK have been very gracious in replacing problematic bottles as have a few as far away as America. My intention wasn't to bad mouth some breweries but to raise my concern for what appears to be a growing problem. This "craft" beer thing appears to be blowing up and demand is so high that quality is being forgotten sometimes. just the concerns of an enthusiast and a consumer.

Its funny we both blogged about this at the same time, seems like there is quite a bit of dodgy beer knocking around at the moment.

HopZine.com : Brooklyn Lager

The beer-description police are on patrol :-$ Don't report me to Mr Oliver. Noted and amended... is lager a better choice of word? As for Vienna lager I had Thornbridge's "Kill Your Darlings" on keg last weekend and found that to be a more Vienna-Style, much sweeter and hoppier. I read your piece of those beer yesterday morning on my way to work.

HopZine.com : ReAle Anniversario 6

Yes Brookyln's Sorachi Ace was the best beer I've had that uses that hops. Its a matter of the right hop with the right malt and the right yeast and it appear Mr Oliver has cracked it. Saying that I still didn't love it. BTW...when I first read the name Colette I thought you were referring to a new Goose Island Belgian style beer not you "better half". :-)

Thanks Dave you hit the nail on the head. Its tricky when you are actually enjoying a beer and something pokes it's nose and it just doesn't fit. ReAle Extra on keg in Open Baladin was real highlight of the drinking I did in Rome.

I really like BBF beers The Sparrow also has their Southville Hop on too, lovely stuff. Thanks for the compliment, its a neat little way to review cask/keg beers, a quick way to produce content and I get to support a cracking little bar.

I've really enjoyed Goose Islands Belgian style beers. This may not be their best but if you like dubbels you should enjoy this. It hides the alcohol very well unlike many traditional Belgian brews.

Yeah I've watched the guys from the Hopcast at last years Darkness Day it looks great. A friend in America goes to Dark Lord day each year and from the sounds of it the numbers are getting out of hand. The beer was still in good condition when I recived it and I drank it later that day.

Its was still bloody amazing! Sometimes you take what you can get, I wasn't hiding that fact that it was a sample from a bottle. If Surly want to send me a bottle I'd love to try it again.

HopZine.com : Punk IPA (in a can)

I love the convenience of cans and I love a neat little gimmick. The bottles are a bit better tasting tho, the bitterness seems to last for longer. Regardless I love it and am going to have one when I get in this evening.
