That's because he makes statements of fact that are actually based on the facts.

Domestic crude oil production has increased over the past few years, reversing a decline that began in 1986. U.S. crude oil production increased from 5.1 million barrels per day in 2007 to 5.5 million barrels per day in 2010. [Energy Information Administration, 1/23/12]

To date, 111 new shallow water well permits have been issued since the implementation of new safety and environmental standards on June 8, 2010. Just 7 of these permits are currently pending; with 12 having been returned to the operator for more information. [BSEE.gov, accessed 2/24/12]

[American Petroleum Institute's Rayola] Dougher said that if all federal land was open to oil drilling -- not just offshore but Alaska's wildlife refuge and all federal land in the West that isn't a national park -- the country could produce an extra 2.8 million barrels of oil a day by 2025.

Being that she represents the oil industry, Dougher gave the idea a hard sell.

She said it would create another 500,000 jobs, add $150 billion each year to government coffers and shave a significant chunk off the country's foreign trade deficit.

But one argument she didn't make was lower prices.

"How would that play out in the market, what impact would that have on prices," she said, "we just don't know." [CNNMoney.com, 4/25/11]

Well, people know things arent getting better for everyone bc of ongoing cutbacks necessitated by the tax cuts. But things are getting much better for the top 5-10% as the numbers show.

Of course they won't speak up. The adjusted real numbers look bad before Obama took offic e and clearly jumped under Bush. Furthermore, the Repubs are now in charge of the House and can filibuster the senate at will so pointing out those numbers makes them culpable in many ways.

Me! I am 'spewing' facts from the report cited in this post. Which part of my 'spew' is fertilizer, exactly?

Yea, Bush this....lets just get over the facts and blame the whole thing on the guy who stepped into the shi..storm.

What a bunch of nonsense! The DC report is devoid of substance and full of innuendo, conspiracy crap and accusations. Oh no, MMfa feeds facts to the media and, those liberal pinheads actually use the data in their reporting! What a story! Media watchdog influences the media by using real facts and exposing propaganda. The unions, liberal fat-cats and Obama are conspiring to ruin this country with their pesky support of journalistic objectivity and factual reporting! How dare they point out lies and misinformation . Dont they know that facts make politics complicated and hard to understand? Better to just stick to theories, lies and dogma that sums up everything in a few words. We understand that so it must be true.

Jeeesh, show me data supporting some meaningful thesis, say, along the lines that MMfa is feeding compliant journalists falsehoods and political talking points. You know, like Fox does in concert with the repubs, the Kochs, the heritage etc. Then you have a valid basis for complaint.

The high rate of unemployment began under Bush and has edged down under Obama. The report you site also points out that the policies needed to further reduce unemployment include more stimulus spending to deal with the lack of demand plaguing our economy. An approach that
Obama has pushed on with very limited success bc of conservative opposition to stimulus spending.

The policies that caused the unemployment levels and recession preceded the Obama admin. The policies needed to turn things around have been vigorously undercut by those who support policies that caused this mess. At least according to the report you cite.

Well, Halliburton is now a foreign company so it seems that we chose foreign. Halliburton has many competitors here and abroad. 37 or so in all. I think that you are missing the point, which is that Halliburton did slipshod work, over-billing , graft, embezzlement and unfinished projects that they fully charged for, not to mention the CEO found guilty of taking bribes. To avoid further problems they left the states. Good ole American company? I am saying that had the bid been awarded competitively then we , the taxpayers , would have gotten a better deal or at least not had 10s of billions of our dollars stolen by Halliburton and it's subs.

Halliburton is 100x bigger than the Solyndra thing.
