they reported earilier it was a decision made by the owner of the dogs not the city, if my dog killed my child i don't think i could stand to keep him (and i love my dog with all my heart!!) and you couldn't give him to a rescue or the pound knowing that it killed a child, so the most ethical thing to do was to euthanize the dogs. it's tragic for all those involved.

once he went under there wouldn't have been much his friends could have done other than call for help, unless they wanted to risk falling in and dying too...

OMG, what a bad idea!!!!! i bet a lot of these animals ended up in shelters due to being a "suprise gift" that the family wasn't prepared for the full responsibility of it!! a cat is one thing, they take less maintenance than a dog,.. but pitbulls are a very strong breed - strong willed and powerful and not something to be taken lightly, they can be amazingly wonderful and sweet dogs for the right people willing to put the time and effort into training and loving them, and i really hope any animals adopted are brought into loving homes that can handle and train them well!!

but what he did shouldn't be considered murder, a tragedy yes, he did a bad th ing yes, but not murder (just my opinion)

if they want to make a set punishment for a crime - like murder - regardless of age then fine, try them in juvenile court knowing the punishment is going to be whatever has been set for that crime.

they should have advertised they were there... i'd never even heard of the place until a couple years ago.. and i'd actually forgotten it was even there! i'd have gone more often if they had done any advertising to remind me.. they did have good food.... oh well

months away from 18 is still months away from 18. they have an age limit for a reason, and they should be allowed to just change it on a case because they feel like it. if they feel 17 year olds are adults, then change the age limit for juvenile court!

and prisons don't reform anybody. they are a punishment, not a rehabilitation facility. prisons only make better prisoners, not better people.
