You really lose a lot of the moral high ground and the credibility when you debate in that infantile style of yours. We all are aware that you love the movie and you hate America. You don't need to constantly validate that with us. Really. Perhaps you can try and be a little less childish and really try and state your points in a more mature manner. I would certainly take you more seriously.
Why not go watch it and decide for yourself?
Two things I like about Tom Selleck....first, he exposed the real Rosie O'Donnell to the world when she tried to chastise him on her show for his support of the NRA. And second, he is a dead ringer for my dad, including the mustache!
What exactly did I blab? Did I reveal some top secret information in my post? I left the service 20 years ago after serving for 14 years. Most of what I knew then has already been declassified, e.g., the F-117 Stealth Fighter program. Or are you just so naturally inclined to react to anything military in a negative knee-jerk manner? It's quite obvious from your posts that you disdain the military. You are certainly entitled to that opinion. I tried to keep my posts civilized, but apparently you have a beef with those of us who serve. I wonder if you ever did. Like I said to Yeah, you don't have to appreciate our military to enjoy the benefits of having the best one in the world. And count your blessings that you live here where you have the freedom to say just about anything you want to.
And I have no idea what the heck you're talking about in reference to Afghanistan or Iraq. Have a great day.
My god, this guy tweets like an 11-year old girl! Really, can a supposed adult be any more immature?
I understand what militarism is. But I object to you implying that militarism is what we practice in America.
I don't need to read a book. I personally served fourteen years in the military as an air combat crew member (with a Top Secret - Sensitive Information security clearance) and I can assure you that there were no super-secret plans to use the military as some kind of conquering force. We are primarily self-defense, but we are willing to go wherever we have to in order to protect our interests. We're leaving Iraq as we speak, and without any oil I might add. We will leave Afghanistan when the job is finished there as well.
By the way, I appreciate the civil debate we're having. Cheers.
Okay, I'll accept your premise. But then the argument becomes that without those corporations they wouldn't have had the technology or the resources to transform Sully into a Nav'i, right? And oh, wasn't Sully himself one of those "white guys"? Let's take it further into reality. Without those corporations or white guys, James Cameron wouldn't have had the technology or the resources to even make the movie. I wholeheartedly support your right to see it and enjoy it, though. To each his own.
And actually, it is the LIBERAL LEFT America's characteristic to reject militarism. The rest of us like the security of having the world's best military. Fortunately, you don't have to appreciate it to enjoy the benefits of it.
That's the point. Even straight couples get married outside the church. Are they more prone to mental issues, persecution or not being accepted by their families? Do they not have the same rights and benefits of those who get married in a church? Of course not.
And once again, apparently, anyone who falls on the "wrong side of the debate" are labeled as insecure and mean-spirited.
It's freaking one man's opinion for crying out loud! Agree or not, but the level of vitriol and bile from you just might have a different opinion than you? You also make a lot of assumptions about what he has or hasn't experienced. Is there a particular timetable for when a person is supposed to check these things off their to-do lists? That's stereotyping to the extreme. The fact that he has been writing a syndicated column since the age of 17 ought to clue you in that he is an exceptional person. I would love to compare your resume with his.
Grow up, man!
I get a kick out of the new Honda Accord commercial showing an enviro driving his little CVCC back in the 70's. He gets out and walks towards the camera as his "Save the Earth" t-shirt changes it's design through the years until we're in the present. The first thing I thought was how this proves the inanity of the whole environmental movement as the earth simply self-reliantly soldiers on through time...just as it has for however many billions of years or so. And all the while, this guy thinks he has been "saving the earth" for the last 40 years.
