I enjoyed the PN on Coelho. Rich with learnings and take-aways. I particularly resonated with the Joseph Campbell quote that accompanied BARE YOUR SCARS LIKE MEDALS - “Any disaster that you can survive is an improvement in your character, your stature, and your life. What a privilege! …Nothing can happen to you that is not positive. Even though it looks and feels at the moment like a negative crisis, it is not. The crisis throws you back, and when you are required to exhibit strength, it comes.”
I agree. Crises are tremendous learning opportunities.
I was reintroduced to the 7 Habits a few weeks ago by Brian Johnson. Today as then, the importance of honoring your commitments resonated with me most strongly. It’s so important to do this to regain your peace. You can find a million good reasons for not being able to keep your word just yet, or how it’s no longer important, but you certainly forsake joy and happiness in the process. I am grateful for this timely reminder.
I found the Four Agreements fascinating, but the 2nd Agreement seems to fly in the face of conventional management wisdom. The 2nd Agreement says ignore the good or bad opinion of others. But we also extol positivity and appreciation, creating good energy at the work place and helping to get more done. Isn't there a contradiction here?
