Tim Benson, President of the British Political Cartoonists Society, was asked why cartoonists felt free to draw anti-Semitic and anti-Christian cartoons, but never anti-Muslim cartoons, he replied, "But they would suffer death, wouldn't they?".

The Republicans should feature the photograph of the guy defecating on the police car in their 2012 campaign commercials. Let the fly-over population see what can be expected in an Obama re-election.

True, the number of Jews eligible to vote is not that big, but it's concentrated in big Electoral College states:- Florida, Pennsylvania, for instance. The heavy Jewish vote in New York is really wasted, because New York is heavily Democratic anyway, as is California. If Florida and Pennsylvania go to the Republicans in 2012 because of a downshift in Jewish votes, it could give the Republican candidate enough Electoral College votes to win the Presidency.

In her last book, Sara Paretsky throws in several denigrations of President Bush and VP Cheney. I wrote to her and said that the remarks added nothing to the plot, and, if she had not included them, the book would have been several pages shorter. Got the usual b.s. response.
