What really gets me sick is the way the MSM have been repeating verbatim the Obama administration spin. Where is the skepticism? Why always this knee jerk demonization of the Iranians?

Maintaining and expanding the warfare state imposes huge costs on the economy (and not to mention creates for us enemies all over the globe), but there is a silver lining. If we dismantle this trillion dollar monstrosity, the short and long term economic benefits are enormous. Think a trillion dollars of new investment in the economy every year. Think the scraping of the income tax--or, for our leftwing friends, national health care for all bought and paid for right upfront. This is the easy, painless solution to our economic problems. And in the place of the warfare state, we would instead aggressively pursue peace and trade with other nations as the founders of this great nation envisioned.

The antiwar movement has a secret weapon against this budding neocon-neo-Obamanite alliance: economics. With 9.7% unemployment, a two trillion dollar budget deficit, and a sinking dollar, the trillion dollar costs of the warfare state are not economically sustainable. During the Bush years, Alan Greenspan could mask temporarily the costs of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars by printing money. But this stratagem has come home to roost in the collaspe of the housing bubble and the devasting recession we are now experiencing. If you believe Peter Schiff, who correctly predicted these events, the next stop on this train ride to hell is the collaspe of the dollar and runaway inflation followed not long after by an economic downturn that will make the current recession look like a time of unbridled prosperity.
