Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 4/22/09: Dem Caught On Wiretap Plays "Abuse of Power" Card

Why did she say the conversation "didn't exist" both on the tape and on CNN if she claims it wasn't wrong? Why bother to deny something that isn't damaging? Oh, and Pelosi denies that any lobbying for the Intelligence Committe Chair took place? Are we supposed to take her word for it? [I CAN"T WAIT for the next election, so that Nancy Pelosi can go back to being MINORITY leader again!]

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 4/20/09: It Was Close, But Mark Levin's Book, Beats Chavez Pick, BARELY

Conservatives never make it to election day. Reagan was the last conservative nominated by the Republicans. Bush I and Bush II were not conservative, and neither was McCain. Dems are getting more liberal, too. It's funny--go back and listen to JFK's speeches about taxation. He talks about how lowering taxes will RAISE government revenue because lowering taxes creates more jobs and more taxpayers. He sounds more like a Republican than many currently in Washington. And I have no doubt that he'd get blasted in today's primaries by a more liberal Democrat.

Lies are lies, no matter who says them. When a liberal lies we should call them on it. When a conservative lies, we should call them on it. Period.

Remember the campaign? NO ONE with an income below $250,000 per year would have higher taxes under Obama. Well, the footnotes (so far) seem to be (1) unless you smoke; and now (2) unless you use electricty or gasoline. Just remember, it took Carter to bring us Reagan.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : The Secretary of Defense Wants To Overhaul Weapons Spending, Congress Freaks

In my local newspaper, they described the opposition to these cuts only in economic terms. They referred only to defense job cuts in the reps' districts. Nothing about national security concerns. Shameful.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : In Prague, President Obama pledges to pursue the elimination of nuclear weapons

This is from the leader of the gun control crowd, remember. He actually believes that making an agreement or passing a law is enough. In the gun example, drug dealers and other lawbreakers find and use guns regardless of what laws they're breaking, and thus can kill or rob or control those who follow the gun laws and can no longer easily defend themselves. The nuclear example is exactly the same: rogue countries will develop and use nuclear weapons, or threaten to, in order to control those countries who, after disarming according to the agreement, can no longer defend themselves. The world would be a better place if weapons weren't necessary. But Pandora's box is already open.

A drop in price means little if you don't sell, and if you don't hold a particular stock (the whole DOW is not going to go out of business). All this hype over what things are worth today doesn't mean much if you're not going to sell today.

Even the stock market is a good long term buy--think about it. If you're in index funds and you have 20 years or more before you retire, then the market will rebound by the time you need the money. And you will have bought it at bargain basement prices, with dollar cost averaging. In my opinion, now's a great time to be contributing to your 401K, if you're in your 40s or younger.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : Want To Buy A New Home, But Worried About Your Job?

Imagine--people used to provide their own insurance, by SAVING their OWN MONEY! They lived within their incomes, in communities where they knew each other and helped their neighbors when something went wrong. Sounds like Utopia to me.

I wonder how long it will be before this kind of insurance is offered to the general public (not just those buying a new home). Layoff insurance. Those who buy it will then believe that they never have to save--why have an emergency fund when insurance will pay for everything if you lose your job? And why really look for a job under those circumstances? Or why make sure you go to work on time or actually do your job well--you'll be taken care of if you're fired (you don't really think they'd be able to define "laid off" to exclude poor job performance job losses, do you?). Then, eventually, governors or mayors or whoever will soon be able to appeal to the federal government for "layoff disaster relief" if a big company goes out of business or some other event that has a large effect on jobs occurs. Also, of course, every time one of these events happens, we can blame either global warming, corporate greeed, or any Republican who happens to be in office. And Congress can pass legislation so that a tax-evader Treasury Secretary can jump in any time he wants to control the Layoff Insurance industry.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : The "Back Tax Boogie" Continues in DC

This has happened to members of both parties--tax scandals, and sex scandals, and corruption. The difference is generally that, when a Republican does it, they get voted out of office by their own constituents. Democrats in similar circumstances get re-elected. Just ask President Clinton.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : Message from Netanyahu to Obama:

We've been at war since before 9/11--we just didn't know it. The fact that we have leaky borders and don't produce our own oil supply makes us vulnerable in a way that makes our enemies multiply. We need to stand up and demand that our government close the borders and drill for oil, so that other countries (Iran, Venezuela, etc.) don't have the ability to cut off our oil supply, and thus have a means to control us. Our president (and Secret Service) understand the need for complete self-sufficiency while traveling (as a measure of security)--remember the 500+ entourage for this G20 trip?--but why not make our COUNTRY self-sufficient and secure, too? We need to do it. Now.

Raised taxes? I'd like more info about that--I know he cut income tax rates, capital gains taxes, etc., and that he did it all with a Democratic congress, often with quite a bit of opposition. And if indeed taxes did increase, who raised them, Reagan or congress? What were Reagan's responses to what was done? I don't know the facts without looking them up, but I think that litany you've listed needs some clarification--it doesn't sound complete to me.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : As Seen in the Wall Street Journal - A Public Apology To The Harassed AIG Employees

Many worked for ONE DOLLAR for the YEAR, with a contract that specified that their pay would be in the form of a one-time bonus. They were hired on this basis to try to clean up messes that others (not they) had made. The government stepped in at the end and offered this money, long after these people had been working on lifting their company out of its bad situation. The word "bonus" implies an extra payment, given for extra effort or great results, but in this case that implication isn't accurate. So let's be fair--would you like to work for a year and then have your company (or your government) decide that you shouldn't be paid for it?

One sure-fire way for members of congress to gain my respect (and perhaps my vote!) would be for members of congress to REQUEST to be audited. That would show their constituents that they don't believe themselves to be above the law. How about some letters to your reps, people?

First, schedule audits with every member of congress. Then, after they hire a fleet of accountants to determine whether they've missed or forgotten (or, gasp!, cheated), as well as lawyers to defend them from the consequences, ask them to vote on a simple tax code. If they were subjected to yearly audits, they'd pass a realistic tax code so fast it would make our heads spin.

God is in what your son does (and what we all do). As St. Francis of Assisi said, “Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words.” Maybe the words won't be allowed in a public school, but a giving heart and loving ways will be welcome anywhere. Have hope.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 3/29/09 - 4/1/09

That's a pure democracy, not a republic as our founding fathers believed was best. When voters don't know all the details, they tend to make snap judgements based on their limited information. Just look at what the average voter in November's election knew--based on very biased and limited information. The mainstream press already has too much power, since they decide what will and won't be asked or told--and what you're suggesting would make them even more powerful. On the face of it, it seems like a good idea, but considering that most voters get their view of political matters from only one or two sources (and those are the most informed ones!), and most of those sources refuse to cover certain stories, the outcomes are rarely good (just look at the last election!). And they're getting worse, since the only political awareness most people have comes from watching Tina Fey on Saturday Night Live. It's hard to know how to solve it, since most problems government is trying to solve are so complex. But let's keep thinking. We surround them!

Lots of news outlets were talking yesterday about govt takeover of private industry and asking intelligent questions--for a change! This administration is walking a dangerous line, because they're getting overconfident, and are starting to cross lines that even the uninformed will recognize. Most people haven't been paying attention, but that could change quickly. People are waking up--let's help them!
