I am attending the CES tradeshow this week --in virtual space--and will comment each day on the news I find most interestng:

todays newsworthy prediction: Sony's CEO announced a host of new Sony products, including the Wi-fi Cyber-shot camera which allows people to send photos to a networked Bravia TV, as well as to websites, blogs and photo sharing sites and a new Internet- enabled alarm clock, created in cooperation with Chumby, that provides personalized content, including news, sports, weather, music, videos and Internet radio.

I think this will be a hot future area!

The most exciting news in 2008 was the announcement of a "virtual phone" by VMWare and iPhone--unlike a "dual sim" phone, the Virtual phone will have 2 different states: a normal 3Gor GPRS phone, and a control console for Virtual Memory applications...the first virtual phone is due to appear in 1st quarter 2009...
