Having a university degree does not make u automatically technically capable, like wise not having one does not make u incompetent! Alot of the workers at the CSO are older persons, persons who grew up in a time where degrees weren't free and so few may have been able I afford one, people who have been working there for decades... but that does not make them technically incapable!

Fifteen years and more hands on experience must count for something! Why must people politicize everything so?

Well that is precisely my point actually... Nothing is wrong when an east indian deciding to pick up hindi, or an African Afrikaans... But to me the high commissioner made it sound like it was unnatural for a modern person of east Indian descent to not know hindi ... He "lamented" , as though the language was taken away from them... these people are no longer east Indians they are trinidadians and tobagonians, we trinbagonians speak English. why must they be encouraged to hold on sooo tightly to a culture that is no longer theirs?

Now I have no problem with interested people learning any language of their choice! Be it hindi, Chinese, Japanese, whatever. But the way he coming off is as though the language was taken away from them! THEY CHOSE TO BE HERE. My point was simply mr. High commissioner is that if ur people leave their land to another with not simply a different accent but an entirely different language what do u expect will happen??? So what is there to lament? If u wanted to keep hindi alive and strong stay where it is spoken.
