Lacking the promised transparency requires a lot more creative thought on our part, as the current administration has usually already acted prior to our knowledge. OK, granted there are problems with AIG. However, there was originally the option for Congress to say, "Too bad, you're on your own." However, as with many other problems, rather than attempting to responsibly find a solution, they chose, as usual, to throw money at it - our money! Originally there was the opportunity to assign conditions to the use of this money Congress was throwing. They chose not to do this. If in fact AIG had contracts to pay these bonuses, then too bad Congress. Congress does not have the authority to void private contracts - if they did, why would anyone ever sign a contract? Would our tax dollars be better spent in litigation with the executives whose contracts were ignored? It's done. Get over it and be sure it doesn't happen again - with any company! Why all the indignation regarding only AIG? What about GM and the unions? Where is the yelling and screaming about Freddie Mac & Fannie May? Where is all the money that was paid to one of Obama's campaigns financial advisor's, Frank Rains? Are they trying to recoup that? For a group of people who blatantly and consistently reward failure, it is beyond me why they are suddenly so upset about AIG. Perhaps "me thinks one doth protest too loudly." the AIG bonuses are simply a smoke screen, as is the administration's focus on Rush Limbaugh, it diverts the eyes away from them and their incompetence. They are the problem. They gave AIG the money with no stipulations. They are the ones who blindly signed away trillions of our taxpayer dollars for a stimulus bill they didn't even read! It's time to call a spade a spade. All of these problems can be traced back to the queen of the House Financial Services Committee, Barney Frank and Senator Chris Dodd, who got special interest rates - and now a questionable Irish cottage, as paybacks for his senatorial favors.
