I've mainly done yoga, but with work, family, etc it's gotten harder to keep up, that's why I wanted to try this. Stuck with it for ~a week last time, want to see it through next time I try it. Need to do that soon, thanks for reminding me!

@Nancy What version of Windows are you running? I thought I saw it work in XP? Perhaps strings.exe isn't in your path, try searching for it, then change to that dir and run it from there.

fak3r : HOWTO: install Fedora-commons repository software on Debian

@Filipe I was able to get the last version of Islandora to work with Drupal-Fedora, but suspect the newer version will be better. Have you tried the latest, or just the previous release? As for more metadata needed to specify during upload, we use the Biblio module http://drupal.org/project/biblio - it can import using many different content types; what type of digital object are you trying to import/represent?

@Filipe I looked at Fez for a time, but since we're using Fedora3, I looked elsewhere. Currently working with Drupal, along with the Islandora Fedora-Drupal module (http://vre.upei.ca/dev/islandora), they have a version set to work with Fedora3 and Drupal6 almost ready for release. We still need to understand how we can create content types tied to the Biblio module, and have them added/updated at the same time in Fedora. We're hoping Islandora will be that 'glue'. Here's developer Paul Pound's documentation for the new, upcoming version: https://fedora-commons.org/confluence/display/ISLANDORA/Islandora+Guide This statement gives me hope that this will be the way to go:

Future versions of the module may store metadata and/or links to datastreams regarding the Fedora object in the Drupal database. This would enable a Fedora node to be used in the standard Drupal ways but also leads to duplication of data and the problem of keeping Drupal and Fedora in sync.

@James Chartrand - hey, I'm glad you found my tips helpful, hopefully I can answer this one for you as well.
Any advice on dealing with the security settings enforced by the tomcat that is installed by apt-get on debian?
What do you mean exactly? I use the Debian installed Tomcat (5.5) with our Production version of Fedora-commons (3.1), I remember that in documentation I read online it told me to copy over some xml from Fedora's install into Tomcat; when I did this things would fail, when I ignored that step and just let Tomcat use its own xml file, it 'just worked'. I'm happy to post the files for review, just let me know which one (or if you don't know, I'll post all of them).

fak3r : HOWTO: conky config (conkyrc) for Debian Part 2

@Jack Vermicelli Thanks for noticing, Wordpress, and this theme, don't deal well with long, unformatted lines. I've change the 'pre' tag to 'blockquote', so now you can read the whole thing. Hope you like it, or can at least use ideas from it. Conky is a such a nice option to all the cpu/memory eating 'gadets' that litter other desktops. (of course I'm only being slightly silly, people can run whatever they want on their systems, but for me the priority isn't to create the world's shiniest desktop!) Thanks for pointing that out Jack.

www.ubuntu-unleashed.com : Howto: Mount .ISO, .IMG, .BIN, .MDF, and .NRG in Ubuntu Linux The Easy way

this is exactly what I was looking for, I really don't want/need to burn cds of every ISO I have, if I can just mount it and install it to the pendrive, then I can use that as my install and not waste so many CDRs. Thanks

fak3r : HOWTO: install Ruby on Rails on Debian or Ubuntu Linux easily

I'll take the criticism over running Webrick, but remember, I'm just doing this for development work, in a production case I'd be all about a bunch of mongrels fronted by nginx. As for using gem instead of apt-get for install - as a longtime Debian admin, i swear by apt-get and it's ability to keep a system up to date and secure. What does gem provide me in those terms? Does it keep things up to date as apt-get does? Again, I don't use ROR for anything production currently, but I don't know about best practices in that regard, so I appreciate the feedback.

fak3r : Amy Winehouse had to cover up pin-up girl tattoo for Grammys

@Amira Thanks for your comment, however I think you've misread my opinion of this event. I thought it was ridiculous that she had to cover up her tattoos, but especially so since the ones in question were 'nude breasts'! The point is, why should any art be censored, and why only for us Americans? We can't handle seeing naked boobies? Come on. Also, please know I hold nothing against Amy Winehouse, least of which her substance abuse problems. Its as if all the rock stars in history never had these troubles? It's only that the paparazzi are on the case that her every (mis) step is recorded and commented upon by everyone; it's terrible, and I suspect it's not helping her recover. I hope she gets better and makes a record that bests 'Back to Black'! If you want to read other posts I've made on Art and Censorship, poke around my site, it's a recurring theme of mine. Best.

@Tony I got into her just after Dry was released, and was lucky to see her on that tour in Chicago. The ways she's changed and grown as an artist has been amazing, and I'm always ready to see what she's up to next. Truly an artist for the ages (in both regards, seeing how we started following her the same year ;)) I hit your blog, it's very nice, your reviews are excellent as well! We share admiration for many of the same bands as well. I've compiled a list of my fav releases dating back to 2001 on this page: http://www.fak3r.com/noise/ and soon I'll publish my 'best of' list of all of the records I consider to be classics from the past 50 years. I've added your link to my 'we read' links, your site is one I will checkout more as I look for more toons (always need more!) Thanks for the note Tony, cheers!
