"Many borrowers have complained that the government program is a bureaucratic nightmare."

THE GOVERNMENT IS TRYING TO DO TOO MUCH, no wonder they can't pull it all off!

You missed it, Ms. AP article writer, the obvious connection that Obama has with Blago is.... THEY ARE BOTH DEMOCRATS and Blago was trying to sell his former seat!!!! Oh but that should not hamper Obama at all whatsoever, thus saith the expert consulted for this article who just happens to be a .... nuh uh, yep, a Dem, a totally unbiased Dem, mind you. Gee, wonder what our dear article writer's party affiliation is...

I'm going to have to go with Gilbert Gottfried. The sound of his voice is less irritating than Obama's.

Think of how cold we would be if there wasn't this really awesome global warming that's going on. You're right, Vituperator, to prevent an ice age, I think we all need to drive the biggest SUV we can find. Long live the Suburban!

nice info vince. Despite the fact that this whole mess got blamed on McCain and Repubs, (McCain was up by two points over Obama when Bear Stearns went under) clearly, Bush and the Repubs tried to correct and stave off the mortgage bubble (as shown in the video link I posted). Bush made 17 different moves to try to reel it in. Dems saw it as racist and attempt to deny American dream to all (surprise). I remember during Clinton era how much grief the Dems were giving mortgage lenders about "redlining," not extending enuf mortgages to low income areas. They threw race card at them and threatened sanctions if they did not lend more to everyone and anyone. This was, as you say, an implicit govt. loan guarantee and of course many of the loans came thru FHA/Fannie/Freddie. Some brokers got greedy though and pushed paper as fast as they could. If you can't beat em, join em. The bond raters also stamped AAA ratings on the packaged mortgages - again b/c of govt guarantees.

Some conservatives say the govt could have let the big financials go under, but b/c of govt guarantees of so many of the loans, the govt would have still been legally liable to someone. I wonder if the TARP should have been bottom up. You know, directly pay off the defaulting loans. Do you think that would have cost more or less?

Liberals never met a crazy person they were not willing to enable. The crazies in this world are just not properly understood, you see. They just need special care and nurturing by very wise people. Ahockerinmygymbag is certainly not an exception. Obama - Enabler in Chief.

nice discussion - I think the liberal premise is that rich people get rich on the backs of the working class. So to rectify, whack the mole at the top, and the grub(s) falls down to the proletariat. It is a different take on trickle down theory. They fail to see that guys at the top lay off the guys at the bottom when the company gets whacked. If libs really believed in caps on income in general, they would be speaking out against pro athletes and entertainers. talk about overpaid.

Cindy Sheehan is quoted in this article, "We need jobs, we need health care, we need education, we need housing," she said at the final rally.

Cindy Sheehan and Pittsburgh demonstrators, if you want advice on how to actually accomplish something for needy Americans - be like conservatives and give your OWN money to the cause, instead of collectively spending billions flying all over the country to the latest microphone opportunity to try to force conservatives to give their money! We know libs don't pay taxes.
Read one of your own ideological mates taking fellow liberals to the wood shed for, wait for it... stinginess to the poor!!

Just read the daily news to ascertain whether your liberal heroes are paying their taxes. (They don't) Why do you think czar appointments are so popular with Obama? B/c they have no confirmation hearings and tax audits.
Bush gave way more money to charity than did Obama. Bush cares about the needy. Obama recognizes them as a way to gain power to make others truly help them. He likes to TALK about helping the needy. HE CAN'T EVEN HELP HIS OWN DESTITUTE FAMILY MEMBERS IN KENYA. Thieves broke into Obama's grandmother's home (hut) thinking surely she had extra possessions. They were sorely disappointed.

FYI - the solar panel on her hut was NOT given to her by Obama.
