I understand most of what you are saying, but on the large screen thing ... I'm approaching 50 and it can be hard for me to read the small type on some of these standard-sized screens. Which leaves me to my biggest criticism of the iPhone.

As long as you want it's exact screen size, battery life, no keyboard, etcetera then I agree that the iPhone is superior. But if you are someone who wants/needs a keyboard, or a better camera, or a entry-level smartphone, or a left-handed froolap then the iPhone won't work for you because it comes in just one flavor.

Personally I respect Apple and if it's specific hardware is what you want, I doubt Android will ever beat it. The Android O/S has to make compromises because it must accommodate all of its variations. On the other hand, if you want hardware to fit your lifestyle you will probably find a better match from the range of Android phones.
