INteresting article in Sunday NYTimes. Many brides are buying at least two dresses and some four or five! I know there is a stock shot somewhere in that information :-)
The idea of a gray haired CEO in a suit as a business leader is rather passe. Users want authentic looking business leaders that reflect the current business community: that means women leaders and both men and women looking more like energetic innovators (business casual) and less like Wall Street...especially since Wall Street lost its gloss and a lot of its cred.
I should also mention that girl's soccer is really important.
Globally soccer is more popular, but globally America has the largest percentage of any country of stock photo buyers...distorting the need for football pics over soccer. Yet the most popular sport in the US...with respect to the number of people involved...is kid's soccer. So shoot US football that can pass as pro or college and kids 13 and younger playing soccer.
Microstock companies should take a page from the Flickr book and offer both square and original format. Also more subjects are available in horizontal so some downloads might have increased in the square format if the subjects available in that format were more widely dispersed.
