I prefer the ski website, too. Bingo, prayer and feng shui don't go together in my book. And the chat screen taking up half the page? No, just no. The comments in the huge font that appear at the top of the page are something else, too.

Excuse me? Now websites are dictating that we have 1024x768 resolution and a high speed connection? I enjoy both of those things, but monitors last longer than computers, and some of them won't tolerate that resolution. I couldn't get passed the page with the MMN. It was just too confusing. Definitely didn't fulfill it's mission.

Unfortunately, Jakob is better at math than you are in this case. The non-profit has a $10M budget. It gets 10% or $1M from web donations. If you increase that by 10%, you get an extra $100K. Sorry. But he does make other good points, too. Like making the local look like the national, and not making it difficult for donors to find the donation button.

Not to mention the tiny text, and the way they set it up, I need to horizontal scroll on my wide-screen monitor. That is, if I have my sidebar open. Close the sidebar, and it's nicely centered in the middle of the screen. No fluidity to it at all.

It must have been built for a wide monitor, because the links show up just below the rest of the text on my 1440x900 resolution widescreen. But it is ugly. The page source is...almost nil. The most interesting thing is the comment in the source that labels Alta Vista and Infoseek meta tags. Do those search engines even exist anymore? And if they do, does anybody use them?

You can't use DRM music for anything, dummies. Can't make it play in a YouTube video, can't make it play on your website. There are places where you can get crappy DRM free elevator music for such uses, but you also have to pay them. Besides, music on your website is so 20th Century.

Again with the waving flag gif. And Dreamweaver would do a better job. If you look at all the little tiny buttons toward the bottom, where the Macintosh gif is, you will see one that says "Spun with Page Spinner." I had thought that perhaps the Peak Performance thing was just an ad, but no, it's quite apparent that the same person built both websites. With the same crappy software that was out of date 10 years ago.
