Just follow up to all the folks in here: We recently held our annual sidewalk sale here at McKenzie Books. At the end of the three-day event, we were able to sell thousands of books and give over $1600 to DonorsChoose.org. It was really great meeting and talking with the community. The beautiful weather helped as well! If you're at all interested in reading a write up about our Sidewalk Sale, there's this post on our blog: http://www.cash4books.net/blog/2010/07/02/sidewal...

It looks like it might be part of the new logo. It could be before the "R" or "L". Anyway I'm excited for whatever you guys are up to!

Thanks Gabe for posting the McKenzie Books event. Hope everyone will stop by. I'll be manning the registers for the Sidewalk Sale Thursday and Friday 2-4pm so hopefully I'll get to chat with some of you about books and stuff.

I carry a little notebook with me which includes lists of books I've read and books I want to read. Of course, the latter gets longer and longer. Then, out of frustration, I trim it down to the books I feel I should read. It's only a small percentage of the books that I actually read were from my "to be read" list. (That was an awful sentence, I admit.) Luckily, I love lists.

I often end up reading multiple books at a time. As much as I try not to, it always happens. I just don't like having unfinished tasks. But then I see a book I feel I must read or need a break from what I'm currently reading. I figure though it's not at all that different from being able to watch different TV programs so that's not where my problem lies.

Thanks Gabe for posting this!

On an unrelated note, it amused me to see a link to Reading Local (where they have to choose the city) on Cafe Yumm's blog. Glad the word is getting aorund!

I just want to let the RLPers know Green Bean Books is still holding their May Day Book Drive for The Children's Book Bank until June 1st. Jennifer runs a neat store in Alberta. Stop by there if you go during Last Thursday.

I'm most likely going to WAP's event on Wednesday. They are a nice nonprofit. Plus it's great to see how empowered the writers become when they read their works.

Sunday's event at FWC also looks interesting! And Louis Sachar, I should probably go see him...

Wishing you and your family the best. And, you have a great team here and I'm sure they'll manage the site very well while you do what you have to do!
