I agree. I think she could have gotten her point across by simply stating that she had 'lost' her mother at a vulnerable age. That is was by suicide made it uncomfortable and unnecessary.

IDear Susie - Any thoughts about giving your audience some say in the final choice? This is the first season I've gone on line, and I must say I'm surprised at how passionately your viewing audience feels about your choices. You're tasting the food, which gives us a feeling for how they can cook - but we're the ones that build a potential viewing audience. A phone-in system might work well - even if you're down to just the last two. By that time, we can almost taste their food as well, and have a distinct feel for who we'd like to see as a new FN host.

I'm sure that a far better "Asian" chef than Debbie is out there, waiting to be discovered. Other than her "camera-readiness", there wasn't anything that recommended her to me. I never found her food offerings to be particularly Korean, as I never found out just what in particular made Korea's cuisine different from Thai...Chinese...Japanese...Vietnamese... If I use soy and garlic, am I cooking 'Korean'?? If I cook grits, am I cooking Southern style?? What she had to say when she was smiling into the camera lens did NOT match up to her behavior behind the scenes. Her believability factor was a big, round zero.

I cannot believe some of thecomments I've read during this season. They have degenerated to areas that don't have anything to do with the subject of cooking, hosting, camera-readiness, etc. Now we're looking for finalists with perfect teeth? If your first inclination was to apologize, then you knew right then your comments weren't appropriate.
