Many churches use organs. Many young musicians aspire to learn to play an organ. I've seen the coolest 18 year old with long hair ripping one of those bad boys up before. Just because many churches have turned into rock concerts doesn't mean that those of us that haven't are a rare breed. You just haven't been exposed. This post reminds me of when you talked about church hats. You just haven't been exposed to the other ways your brothers and sisters worship. Lets stop making fun of each other.

I was worried people would think that. I truly just love the statement. I want to be chase after what is uncommon....a life set aside (holy) for the Lord.

Be Blessed Today!!

When we are honest, we see it. Most Christians I know start giving more and wanting less for themselves as they grow closer to Christ. They see their overeating as a drug addiction and feel great shame. They beat themselves up every time they lose their temper with their kids and their spouse. They feel helpless and hopeless when they realize that they tend to be selfish and slothful. They feel terrible that they don't have the desire to give like they should. It's soooo hard but these are "secret" sins that we think we are hiding from the world. We deal with them painfully alone. We shouldn't have to. It should be socially acceptable to talk about gluttony in church. It should be OK to say to the person next to you that you are afraid to let go of your money when God has asked you to give. It is really hard to tell your small group buddies that you are lazy and that your house is a wreck. But I promise. Christians are very .... very aware of the things that we may be too afraid to talk about. We don't think it's OK. We struggle silently.

It's so easy to fall into the trap of looking at other people and their sins because it is so painful to look at our own. I use it in my marriage. "Honey look at how that woman treats her husband. Be happy that I don't do that" I use it as a parent. "Wow. That mom is a moron. I'm glad I at least don't do that!" It's just so much easier to look at someone else's sins than to look honestly at my own. It hurts. But really, when my eyes and heart are truly focused on Christ, I can't help but see myself for who I am. In spite of it all.....His.

I think it's the shoes. Are those white tap shoes you are wearing? People are afraid of those you know.

Bless your heart. My inlaws don't know about Chick Fil A either. The horror of going through life without such sweetness. It's a handicap really.

Journeys happen one step at a time. It never happens in one moment and it shouldn't. I pray that you will look at what 's right about your ilfe and surrender all of the rest. Letting God change circumstances that you have surrendered is so hard, but the resuts are always beautiful. I bet if we talked in 20 years, the tapestry would be much clearer. BTW, I worked retail when I was younger and it taught me an awful lot about ministry. God uses any venue that you surrender to him.

I lived in an area that I knew wasn't home for 7 years. I cried out to the Lord for help getting the house sold and knowing where to go. It was a struggle on more levels than I can explain. So when we finally moved to our dream home but more importantly our dream area in the mountains, we woke up to a very unsettling realization. We were still looking at ourselves in the mirror...along with all of our problems. The worry of where to live was out of the way but great sorrows and struggles that plagued us in other areas were still there....worse even. But then we had an opportunity to focus on what we could change and surrendering what we could not.
