NO! Please recall the circumstances in which he left us. He agreed a deal, but didnt sign it. Why? "He is in Israel with his family" his agent said. Nothing to worry about. I think his wife had a baby, actually. A few days later, rumors of Liverpool pop up. "Not true" said the agent. He has agreed terms with West Ham and will be back. A few days later.......

Yossi signs with Liverpool.

I have no trouble admitting I am one unforgiving bastard on this stuff. I f-ing hate Demba Ba. Hope his bloody knee explodes stepping out of the shower. I havent even forgiven Tevez. All the crap the club went through because of him he should have at LEAST stayed the following year.

Yossi can bugger off. Get Whittingham from Cardiff. He's worth a punt for sure.

You cannot compare Ba to VazTe in that Ba had a release clause in his deal. He was able to walk regardless of what we did. Sullivann admitted it was the single worst mistake he has ever made vis a vie contracts. Vaz Te is contractually ours. I dont believe we will sell him and I dont see him attracting some huge fee based on half a season in the Championship.

Tevez was a huge star when he came to us from Boca Juniors, Benayoun was playing in La Liga for Racing Santander, and I think I recall Ashton being tracked by a number of clubs while at Norwich.

I would shocked if we sold Vaz Te. Its not like anybody wanted him at the start of the year. Only Barnsley, and then we bought him. He will stay and lead the line next year with Maynard. Cole will go if anybody wants him. Nolan will go due to wages, but likely for less than we paid. Noble and Tomkins are the guys we will be able to get some money for, and in this league we can get replacements.

Lets not get too hung up over losing players that have gotten us relegated and have been less than dominant in the second tier. Do we really need them, or are we just used to them? I think its a fair question.

While I agree that promotion is very important, we have no evidence that the club will essentially plummet into oblivion as you suggest if we dont go up. Common sense dictates that the only way for the David's to recoup their sizable investment is to do whatever they can to get promotion as soon as possible. Our parachute payment next year is the same as this year, but they may decide not to "loan" the club the same amount they did last year from their personal fortunes. Which are quoted in the 500 million pound range between them. The books will be balanced by selling some players, particularly those with larger wages. But as we have seen with Reading and Southampton this year, the wage bill doesn't necessarily determine who wins.

Im not being naive here. I know how vital it is to the club to gain promotion. And if we languish in this league for a third yearor worse, when the parachute payments dwindle to half and then nothing, we are in serious trouble. But to suggest Gold and Sullivan will just let their 80 million pounds put in so far (or more) vanish if we dont win this year doesnt make sense.

I also appreciate your optimism. I dont, however, share it. We are basing this new found optimism on one game. If we play like we did against Brighton over the final three AND playoffs then we can go up.

Southampton play Posh on Tuesday and M-Boro next Saturday. Not Watford.

I dont agree. The panic button is already pressed. We have lost every advantage we had. The game in hand in Southampton is gone. The lead over Reading is gone. And I predict that by the end of next weekend we will be 6 points behind Reading in second place. Playoffs is the best we can hope for at this point.

I moved upstate a few years ago and had no idea abut Nevada closing. I never really enjoyed it there but it was an institution. When did that happen?

Hi Eric,

I was up on 25th, so I went to McCormacks. They always had a great breakfast for the games. I remember one time, for the Ipswich playoff first leg the year we cam back up, the barman at McCormacks overslept. We waited outside until kickoff and then grabbed a taxi to Nevada Smiths. We called at halftime and Sean was there so we went back for the second half. But I bet we do know many of the same people.

I was born and raised in Manhattan. After college, I got my own apartment downtown. Ended up staying there for 21 years, actually. Anyway, my next door neighbor met a guy on a flight to London. They started dating. When he would come to visit her, he would ask to come to my place to watch the Premier League highlight show since I had cable TV and she did not. I always loved the game. My dad is from Austria and always had me watch thenfew games that were on TV with him. I also had a season ticket to the Cosmos in high school with a friend.

This guy was from East London, and had WHUFC season tickets with his dad and brother. So I started checking results in the New York Times. Next thing you know, I am sitting at a pub on Third Avenue called McCormacks watching us play Sunderland in the FA Cup. It was a 7am kickoff in New York.

Now Im an utter mess on game day. My kids have had West Ham backpacks at school, Im Forever Blowing Bubbles is the ringtone on my phone, and I dont care who wins The Super Bowl.

Im West Ham through and through, regardless of what league we play in.
