I don't understand your response either. You said the reciever is not responsible for payment. The reciever is responsible for payment as discussed above. But we have very little control over fees charged. My suggestion is a back door approach to implement reasonable medical fees. In a meeting with the Obama crowd, a doctor introduced lower fees vs. nationalization to make health care affordable. After the meeting, this doctor was basically told to shut up and threatened. Why? Because he was right?
MeJane I just hope he realizes that the IRS will no longer let you wait to pay your taxes until the end of the year. They will charge penalty and interest if you don't estimate the total amount you owe and send it to them quarterly. However, I wonder what results it would yield if everyone paid them once per quarter? This would really jam up their ability to pay their bills on time and without penalty to the individual. Give them a little taste of what many people are being forced to do just to stay afloat.
The receiver of the service, the patient, pays all medical care through cash payment or a third party insurer where the patient owns the insurance contract with the right of subrogation belonging to the insurer. If the insurer denies the claim, the patient is always responsible for payment, even if the provider misfiles the claim and the denial is due to provider error. This is evident when the patient is billed by the provider tor the denied charges. Medical billing does not necessarily wait for the refiled claim to pay. Look at any New Patient Form under payment, responsible party. The patient's name or relative, if a minor, is what is asked for here. Organ transplant relies on the free donations of a cadaver for the transplant surgeon's raw materials. My suggestion cuts off this supply line. Most people could afford private insurance when reduced charges are reflected in premium.
Malpractice costs are a common reason (excuse?) for exorbitant medical costs. A new study revealed the No.1 cause of hospital deaths is medical error. Insurance spreads a RISK across a vast number of people, in this case medical professionals, consider how many errors must be occuring to drive the cost of liability this high? Doctors need to take responsibility for the high cost of the premiums they face. Reduce the errors. Pharmaceutical companies set the cost for drug developement. How many MRI's are needed to pay for one machine? Only the most prestigious hospitals keep buying the "latest and greatest" equipment, all others just keep adding on to the building. Uninsured? Control what is charged and the majority won't be uninsured. Nixon's plan was a federal failure and inexcusable. Medicare/Medicaid have a fee structure. How could Nixon succeed when one of the biggest PAC's, the AMA, opposed it. Regardless, my post suggest action at state levels. All states already have in place Worker's Comp fee schedules for every procedural code on the books. Do you have any alternatives? I would really be interested.
I'm awake Mike and worked in the health care industry 11 years in delivery of services and claims. I think most of us recognize Obama's motivation as you aptly stated in your post. To accomplish his purpose, he must present the argument that nationalization of the private sector is so-o-o-o needed because of all the people who cannot afford health care. If the majority CAN afford health care, he has no argument and his real agenda fails. I will not deny Obama's strength lies in his ability to convince, persuade, or argue his objectives well. Look who we have for a president. We need to "break the back of Leviathon" with action and results that brook no argument. The only thing Obama needs to hea r from us is, "Problem solved. What's next Bozo?" Do you have any suggestions for results based actions that would accomplish this? I'd be very interested before executing my plan.
912er Suggestion (3):
3. Universal health care is a joke as well as the meeting with Obama Bin Lyin and health care industry professionals promising to cut expenses (i.e. cut care). Affordable health care is the solution and this is done by cutting what is CHARGED to patients. Lower fees = lower insurance premiums. Get their attention, RESCIND your organ transplant designations. Include in your living will YOUR FEES AS LEGALLY ALLOWABLE for various body parts payable in advance to your beneficiaries. Doctors charge millions for transplants, the dead's family gets zilch. Notify state medical associations en masse of this decision and demand reasonable fee schedulesfor all medical services be adopted. It WILL get someone's attention. Presto Obama! Americans took care of health care reform for you.
912er Suggestion (continued):
2. Search for unclaimed property on your state's web site My state has 700 million in unclaimed funds. What's that X 50? States are racking up interest on this money. Get yours and stimulate the economy. I looked for an individual in my state and spotted 8 other people I knew that had unclaimed money. Don't forget to check for deceased family members as well. Please get unclaimed money before the states decide on a way to take it. Be a blessing. Assist friends and family with paperwork for claims
Suggestion for 912er's:
1. Go en masse, nationwide, to local county tax offices. Demand properties be re-evaluated to reflect the falling values of homes. How can we find out what counties are legally required to do in assigning valuations to homes?
