If felons want to vote, just move out of Iowa and to a state that doesn't impose that restriction. Since his previous conviction was for theft from his employer, it's interesting that the VS school district put him in the top spot. I don't think a felony should keep you from getting a job, but certainly prevent you from being in a position to repeat your previous offense.
Now that the word is out IN BOLD TYPE that Hy-Vee is cracking down, the shoplifters will just move to other stores. The profit margin at grocery stores is very small. If someone shoplifted $10.00 worth of merchandise, the store has to sell at least $125.00 to make up for the loss and break even. The only way grocery stores make money is through volume sales, and it doesn't take much in the way of theft to hurt the store's bottom line.
It seems our meat/poultry industry thrives on this sort of behavior. It's amazing - recently there was a bust of illegals - 13 were arrested at their homes, while hundreds were at work in the plants. All the plants ought to be raided. Of course we'd be without meat for a while, since most plants would probably be shut down, but it's a small price to pay for cleaning up the industry.
My first comment was deleted because I mentioned an incident about Pawlenty pardoning a still-offending sex offender before he left office in MN. I guess the administrator is touchy about that.
It's simply amazing that so many are blaming Road Ranger for all of this, when the responsibility really should fall on the shoulders of the idiots in the mob. I doubt RR put up a sign that invited this to happen.
The story makes no sense. KCRG is putting more stories online that have a middle, but no real beginning or ending. I'm not making a statement for or against gay behavior, but I don't understand what's illegal this time around either. A huge gap in the story.
Why would there be any charges against the guy who shot the dog? If anything, he should be rewarded. The dog could have easily moved on to a human. He likely kept the situation from getting worse.
What these activists seem to forget is that they are entering private property and invading someone's privacy. They don't help their cause when it's discovered that their editing and staged situations are meant to incite contempt when perhaps it's not justified. Anybody who disagrees with this legislation on freedom of speech grounds needs to understand that farms are not public places. It is just as invasive as if they came to your home with a hidden camera, edited it to fit their purpose, then aired it.
The story leaves us hanging, since it didn't give any details of what happened in court. As for the trick this couple pulled, it stinks. So far as I'm concerned, they committed theft on the grandest scale. Some folks may ask this couple how they can live with themselves. I'll answer that - they have no conscience whatsoever.
Unless the kid never reads the paper or watches TV news, and unless the detectives never interviewed him (all of which is highly unlikely) he's already devastated. Another child who won't be able to trust anybody again.
