Someone tell him to let us play fantasy sports!!!!! ESPN and CBS, among others, has Iowa as one of the few states unable to win prizes in their fantasy games. Time to move into the 21st century folks....
Gave a ride to someone he thought he recoognized? Wow....
Branstad appointed 2 of the 3 justices that were not retained....so he thinks we should wait so he can try again?
I agree Stark! We'd much rather be in this division and lose the Wisconsin game.....as compared to being in the other division (that some outlets claimed) and keeping the game! We would have lost the Nebraska rivalry too in that situation. NW has become competitive....not on the scale of Penn St by any means.....but respectible! And Michigan St is usually solid. Michigan will pop back soon.....and this will be just as tough as the other side. But not being in a division with Ohio St is SWEET......LOL! Besides, Wisconsin has historically played Ohio St better than we do.....
GO HAWKS!!!
How about NO DIVISIONS!!! Just a rotating schedule, like now.....and a championship game at the end of the season with the 2 best teams playing each other. All rivalries would be secured this way.....and nobody gets the short end of the stick....
Except Penn St!! Would it be fair for them, and ONLY them, to have to travel (by whatever means) more than everyone else in the league? Sure they travel now, but to make them be the only ones traveling huge distances is considerably unfair, to them and their fans! Their closest game would be in Chicago. And your setup basically has Ohio St playing Michigan for that division....unless somehow you can convince anyone that Mich St is worthy. Heck, they aren't even one of the top 6 teams in anybody's list. Maybe in my set-up, 2 or 3 games are protected out of the division.....rotating the last one or two games a year between the other 3-4 teams that are left......
You have 4 of the top 6 teams in one division!? And Penn St, the eastern most school, playing all the western most schools!! Splitting up Michigan and Ohio St isn't all that far-fetched. With a 9 game conference schedule.....you would play the 5 teams in your division, one team in the other division that you play EVERY year.....and then 3 more teams from the other division, on a rotating schedule. Here's my division split:
OSU
Penn St
Wisconsin
Purdue
Illinois
Indiana
Nebraska
Michigan
Iowa
Minnesota
Northwestern
Mich St
Iowa would still have all of its rivalry games, playing Wisconsin from the other division every year, and rotating the others. The problem is Wisconsin!! They get screwed out of several rivalry games, much as Iowa would if they went to that division instead of Wisconsin (which is starting to sound like the plan). So one of the 2 schools is gonna be VERY unhappy.....
With the U of Iowa having so many connections to the Windy City, some of us that have children who have graduated and moved to Chicago are excited that this is happening. It gives them (or us) another option to make the trek!!
This is what should have been noted from the beginning.....but everyone was giving Ohio St and Michigan all the glory. Nebraska and Penn St obviously deserve respect....but so does Iowa and Wisconsin (unless you're Mike Hlas...who for some reason hasn't moved to the DM Register, where all his other Iowa St croonies are....this isn't that hard to picture). If you put Penn St and Nebraska....Wisconsin and Iowa.....all in the same division, that leaves Mich and Ohio St alone in the other division. Nebraska, Iowa, and Wisconsin can hold their own with Ohio St, Mich, and Penn St. Would it be better to have Penn St and Wisconsin or Iowa change spots.....only if you think it's fair for Penn St to have to travel to the western half of the conference for all their away games. Sure, they do that now.....but in the future, they'd be the one traveling the most.....so no, it wouldn't be fair....
1. Arizona
2. Ohio St.
3. Penn St.
4. Wisconsin
5. Northwestern
