Education is a key to our freedom and democracy! Iowa wants to be a progressive state – education is the key. Kindergartners are using computers in school – not every home has a computer. The earlier you can get a child interested and their learning potential is so great at the preschool age the better off everyone will be.
Public schools get tax dollars would you do away with that? Some states offer free college if you are a resident of the state and they are prospering.
It is time for tax payers to look outside the box and see what the world is coming too, pay forward and you would be surprised. The earlier a child gets a good education the better they can make choices in becoming a good citizen. One of my preschoolers said Grammie we have only one earth and need to take care of it and get everyone to recycle. Sounds simple enough but she was thinking ahead. I prefer my state tax dollars go to the preschool programs we now have then some other programs the state puts money into.
Could the city, county or state utilize the sand that is at this campground in the winter when we get hit with ice?

Did the lady have really white hair and driving a blue car? If so, she may have been the same person on Thursday heading west on Highway 30. Where the two lanes end and goes 4-lane, when she decided she wanted in the right hand lane which has just ended the 4-lane going east. Talk about what it feels like when you will be in a head-on collision! Three of us including a semi had to take to the shoulder; she clipped the red and white sign and kept on going! I certainly feel for the driver from North Liberty.
This residence should now be destroyed. Allowing anyone to live in an area that was making meth is deadly to anyone who would move in. It is almost impossible to remove the contaminants and then declared clean - it defintely is not worth it. So now the owner is out.
It would be interesting to learn how crime has increased or decreased since doing away with the police helicopter.
Again, if the police helicopter program was in place the individual being pursued plus any officers in the pursuit would not have been put in any danger. Wildlife could have come in anyone’s path causing a crash. If another officer had been injured in this car chase would it have been worth it? The answer is NO. The life of the 26-year old being chased was his life worth this outcome? The answer is still NO. All the details have not been released but I would say if we had the helicopter overhead, the police could have stayed back and he be followed by officers in the sky a different outcome would have come about. He eventually would have run out of gas other innocent drivers would not have been put in danger. The young man would then have been put in custody.
It is long overdue to get the police helicopter program restarted. There wouldn’t be high speed vehicle chases. Rodents would be caught a lot quicker. It was a BIG MISTAKE when the city did away with the helicopter program.
