Indeed. That book has been lurking on the outskirts of my reading list for some time and it's on my Amazon list. I'll keep my eyes peeled for a Kindle deal. Thanks, Mike!

Thanks Nan! I'm pretty sure I cried 3-4x writing this post too. :-)

Honestly, I haven't really thought about most of this until reading your post...

While I like to write it is not birthed out of a passion for poetry or prose but rather out of my obsession for music. I *am* a musician and love music but don't express this gifted craft as often as I once did. I think I started writing because this thing within me, my creative soul, could not be contained and needed an outlet of expression.

I also see life experientially in varying colors and textures filled with synchronous sounds-- a symphony of life, if you will. Feelings have color. Noises have texture. There is a rhythm in life and it beats on my heart like a tribal drum. The birds, the water, the wind, a laugh, a cry, silence-- all tuned to a harmonic melody that makes my soul sing. The Conductor is weaving together a tapestry of instances, feelings, events, moments of awe... which used to compel me to tell their story in song and now it explodes out of my soul with a keyboard.

It seems like every other day begins a new Plan B for my life. God is mysterious and funny like that, isn't He? Growing up in "church world" I was led to believe that Plan B was just my fault for sin patterns, not hearing from God, etc. They would state that if I was *really* a Christian, I would live in this Jesus bubble of safety devoid of mistakes, screw ups, etc. Out of passionate, Holy defiance, God pursued me. He broke the paradigms of plastic faith and continually led me into Plan B.

The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John C. Maxwell.

Currently reading more than I should but would love to add Christian Atheist to the mix-- The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, Soul Revolution, Relational Intelligence, I Once Was Lost, & The Passion of Jesus Christ. Whew.

I am helping lead small to mid-sized gatherings (In essence, I am establishing a "neighborhood church") and believe that the experiences in this book would be relevant to how we engage our culture by being the Body where we are doing life.

That's some great insight and I love your honesty. Thanks SO much for sharing!

I agree with you that God's heart is for us to be like family. "When I become friends with people, I assume their kids are part of the package deal." That's beautiful. I was always told that kids should leave the adults alone. One influential adult in my life quoted the saying, "Children should be seen and not heard." Tragic.

Thanks again for your comments and for your passion for the next generation!
