MetsBlog.com : Note: Gooden Confused, Fans Annoyed

fxcarden, I don't think your suggestion is a problem at all, but its how the Mets go about these things, that's the problem. For them to comment that its graffiti, and to say they are going to wipe it off and have it covered with foam...how about saying its a good idea what Doc did, but we'd rather have a designated area for it and for all our old players to sign. Don't disparage the act and the player like that, act as if you are disgusted and insulted by what he did. Its a lack of understanding of your fans and the history of the franchise that continues to be a problem with this organization

Wow, this team's new logo should Mr. Met with his foot in his mouth. I just don't get how this organization just can't get anything right sometimes. They have no feel for the fans. If you didn't know any better you'd think a bunch of novice foreigners bought the team with no clue about the Mets or NY fans.

umm...who were the three people who voted for the bullpen as the greatest concern? Did they fall into a time warp back to last year?

I'm really trying hard to defend DW but he makes it harder and harder these days. I hate it but I have no confidence when he comes up with RISP, I don't want to feel that way but he just hasn't instilled any confidence in his ability to get big hits right now. I'm amazing how they put 2 runners on every inning it seems like, and just no big hits. 6 losses and four by one run and two by two runs. These games have been right there for the taking and they haven't done it.

You people are ridiculous, its 7 games. Teams play bad 7 game stretches all the time. There are 155 more to go. Its insane you people jumping off the bridge already. I get it they choked the last two years but you can't freak out every bad stretch the team has because no matter how well they play they are going to lose a lot of games. The 86 mets lost 54 games. Gimme a break. Every inning is a crisis with you people.

RichieHebner, Murph is human, do you not think that all players have a moment here and there when they are "lazy"? Murphy is just stand up enough to say he lost concentration and took it for granted. It happens plenty of times. Guys pop up and don't bust it out of the box. Its human nature, its not something worry about. Come on now, relax. You live and you learn. It happens. But I guess we are in every moment is worthy of panicking mode with the Mets these days. No loss or play can be overanalyzed enough. The team is going to lose a lot more, no matter how good they are, its how baseball works with 162 games, just relax a little bit, its 6 games in

MetsBlog.com : Quotes: Mets OF Gary Sheffield from Citi Field

Hey he's here, and if he doesn't cause any problems with playing time, its a worthwhile gamble and he's probably as good a righthanded bat as we were going to get to come off the bench. Everything I've read though says he can't play the field anymore so I just don't see how he's going to get anymore playing time besides coming off the bench. The problem with that is, you'd like to have your bench players be able to play multiple positions and give you some diversity along with there pinch hitting. Sheff won't give any of that. But we'll see

MetsBlog.com : News: Mets sign Sheffield

The problem is it doesn't cost 400,000 because if they release marlon Anderson his 1.15 mill salary (I think that's what it is), the Mets are responsible for, so its really close to a 1.5 mill move. Second he hit 225 in over 400 AB's last year and only .268 the year before. That's what really concerns me. At 40 years old he hasn't been a really good hitter in about 4 years. Also I really would like to see Church and Murphy play regularly finally and now that won't happen as much as before the move. I can't imagine they signed him to get 100 AB's as a pinch hitter. He's going to get a lot of starts, taking away from Church and Murphy
