There was not much of a line at our polling place when I voted or when my husband voted.....looks pretty slow on the news too. Of course we are rural....we quit answering our phone in the evenings unless we knew the number, so many calls! 14 in the last two days!

I am off to vote! It's beautiful this morning and I don't know that in a resort area that brings out the voters, lol...more likely golfers and beach goers. Watching sanctimonious Santorum and he will not ever get my vote....

Big Government : Rasmussen: Romney, Santorum Lead in South Carolina

At least Romney is what he is....Santorum appears to be playing a role that his past record doesn't really back up other than the social conservative part. We are in SC and this morning my 15 year old daughter while watching the news said "we needed to stop worrying about the anti-Romney candidate and start worrying about the anti-Obama candidate" and she has a point.

Big Government : We've Been Sacked by the Humane Society

Generally my home does not smell but from time to time we do get some dust bunnies, With diligence it is possible to have multiple dogs and not smell bad. Daily clean up is needed and with the dogs getting bathed monthly and brushed in between baths and KEPT DRY(very important) I am not ashamed to have strangers in my home. I am not sure why the way my home smells is a subject we're discussing though. We do not live like animal hoarders.

I do not support anti- breeder legislation, I simply stated a fact. I want to be able to breed as much or as little as I choose. I have 10 intact bitches so even though I only choose to have one litter a year I would still have to abide by this legistlation if I lived in MO. Limits sound reasonable to people who don't breed animals. I completely disagree with limits for many reasons, not the least of which is that they can easily be adjusted and you can bet that will be a smaller number. I think we as animal breeders are in a fight to keep our breeds that we love preserved. However I also think we are in a fight as Americans to keep our country as we know it preserved!

That appears to be horrible abuse and over-crowding and should be addessed with the existing laws.

Taking care of animal waste is what a responsible animal owner of any type does, be it changing the bird cage, the cat litter or cleaing the dog yard, cleaing the horse stalls, dragging the pasture. It's a fact of life in animal care. I guess we won't be neighbors, but in this Great Country you are entitled to your pursuit of happiness and I to mine.

I have 10 intact female dogs at my house plus I co-own female dogs with other people. It would apply to me although I think "covered" is a little confusing. In horses that means that the mare is bred, in dogs I am guess the same. I usually have a litter a year and I keep the best one or two for show and place the rest in pet homes. It is very possible to have more than two dogs in a house and have it fit for humans, even my very picky mother-in-law will stay with us. I do spend a lot of time caring for my animals and I try to be considerate of my neighbors but we live out in the country and I am not in violation of any laws or regulations. I am tolerant of my neighbor's late night fireworks(legal), firearms practice(legal) and hunting(legal) though I find these things annoying. I believe that these rules and regulations do infringe on private property rights.

Joe is correct about HSUS. Limiting the number of animals a person can have does not address care issues. Some people are capable of caring for many animals well and some folks can't care for one animal or even themselves well. There are abundant laws dealing with animal neglect and cruelty so why not enforce those laws. Limits may sound reasonable but they are very easy to adjust down so this year it may be that you can have 10 dogs but next year it will be 5. Kennel licensing also often involves a different manner of raising puppies. I have an occaisional litter of pups because I am a hobby breeder and exhibitor at AKC dog shows. I raise my puppies in my home where it is easy for me to monitor them 24/7 if needed. However my home would not be considered suitable for raising puppies. My in-home raised puppies are well-socialised because they are with my family from birth. This makes them a better-adjusted pet which benefits the future owner of any pups I don't keep.

They really want to change our lives....check out HumaneWatch.org for more info. Right now there is an investigation of the lobbying activities of HSUS by the IRS because most of their non-profit status. A very dangerous group, PETA in a better suit, they want to make the process of keeping animals whether as pets or as farm animals more expensive through regulations and legislation that "nudges" people out of animal use.

Big Government : PETA Shakedowns and “Social Responsibility”: Moving the Goalposts

Don't forget the Humane Society of the United States.....Peta in a nicer suit....great fund-raisers who do not operate an animal shelter anywhere in the US, but primarily lobby to change animal ownership into guardianship, regulate animal farming to make it all more difficult and expensive and less profitable. The goal of both organizations is to end all animal use by humans.
