And yet they performed a parody of it for a Starbucks commercial. Go figure.

Got through your number one album. It was ok but I fail to see how anything could be GREAT when it's shamelessly trying to copy a great band. If it were truly great then it would be more original. Maybe I've been reading too much Ayn Rand.

I wasn't talking about the story of Scrooge. I'm talking about how the Muppets did it and who they chose for the characters. They chose Sam the Eagle for Scrooge's mentor--Scrooge says he taught him his biggest lesson. It shows Sam going on about how wonderful business is, how Scrooge will love it and how it is the American way. Then he says--"remember, don't tip the driver." That's how the Muppets see America: the capitalist system creates lots of Scrooges. Just watch the movie in that light--you will see it.

And why do they make Sam the Eagle stern and severe? Once I saw that scene in that light I realized that they are always using Sam the Eagle to make America look bad. He's always an uptight party pooper.

Just watched the Muppets Christmas Carol this week and something jumped out at me. Ebeneezer Scrooge's favorite teacher/mentor was played by Sam the Eagle (you know, the symbol of America). He was teaching Scrooge how to make a profit and be capitalistic--but the tone was very derogatory--like it was a bad thing and anyone who got behind that must be a mean old Scrooge.

I didn't want to believe this of my precious Muppets, but it was there. No mistaking it. :(

Being a championship snow machine racer does not equal unsophisticated nor hick. I think that's the point of the show--to show ignorant urban "intellects" like you exactly how difficult and challenging a sport it is, with the hope that you could respect what an accomplishment it is.

And I don't see how this show would have anything to do with politics. The Palins are a great American family. Period.

The only reason why Dr. Rice gets some modicum of respect now is because she does not currently hold public office. If that were to change, so would the level of respect shown to her by liberals.

I seem to recall some VERY offensive political cartoons of her back in the day. She was hardly above the fray.

I give her props for being original, daring and grassroots. If she succeeds it will be on actual merit. I'd see it.

It's the curse of Two and a Half Men. Ashton is going to turn into a complete douche now ala Charlie Sheen (who I hear is getting back to normal now that he's off).
