I personally know at least three gay men who were once married and had kids before deciding to become gay. I've also met two ex-gays who "came out" of their lifestyle and became straight once they admitted they were unhappy with their lifestyle. There are actually plenty of gay people who wind up committing suicide because they're unhappy with the way they are but are told by the gay community that they're "that way" forever.

I know the gay-rights people who want to piggyback on racial civil rights don't want to hear it, but sexual orientation is not unchangeable. There's too much evidence to the contrary.

The ACLU sued in my state of Nebraska so a guy could have a "pro pot" license plate. How much do you want to bet they won't lift a finger in this case? Apparently, some speech is freer than others.

I'm going the other way on Netflix — only 5% of the movies in my queue are available via streaming. Unless you're a devotee of some very specific TV shows, there really doesn't a whole lot to choose from. At least not yet.

In the meantime, DVDs by mail will still work.

Yes! I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who felt this way. I enjoyed a good portion of the Tree of Life — the large mid-section with the vignettes of the three boys growing up together in a small Texas town. It was an interesting and very compelling narrative. The scenes with Penn, however, seemed to have been tossed in just to say, "Hey, this movie has Sean Penn, too!" The fact that he doesn't even remotely resemble either of the young boys he's supposed to be years earlier only seems to underscore the impression that he doesn't really belong in this movie at all.

The long montage of the creation of the universe and the dinosaurs didn't do much for me either.

I wonder if the NAACP would be OK if the Tea Partiers merely blocked polling places with nightclubs, since that's apparently not a problem anymore.

My question is, did Jay have to talk to dozens of people in order to find ones who didn't know answers to these simple questions, or is this a sad cross-section of America?

Seriously, does anybody remember how often George W. Bush was depicted as an ape?
