Thanks for update dev team :)
I was able to upgrade my iPhone 3G from 3.0 firmware to 3.0.1, redsnow, and then ultrasn0w, without losing my applications, syncs, and other settings. Thanks for the great work :D

More accurately, there is a bug in pre 3.0.1 firmwares, which allows anyone to send you 512 SMS messages, and take complete control over your phone. In theory, they can tell your phone to send out 512 SMS messages to each of your contact list's phone to infect other users, too. This will of course, please your service provider, so long as you do not have an unlimited text message plan, but will obviously make a big dent on your wallet when it comes to phone bill. Aside from that, it also opens up doors to privacy concerns (uploading your address book to third party servers, etc.) which we also don't want ;)

No. It means when there's a new firmware out, you should NOT update it until dev team here gives you information on how to update.

It will not remove it, but it will allow you to temporarily work around it.
Meaning, you will be able to use it with another carrier, but once you upgrade or restore your firmware, you will be locked again. Be careful with upgrades.

Guessing that'd be when CommCenter or Ultrasn0w crashed some how, and got re-loaded with a non-patched version... Airplane mode or rebooting should do the trick though? Interesting to know, thanks for the info!

I activated using official SIM instead of hacktivating it with unofficial SIM so I can get proper PUSH support, I have not noticed any problems yet (*touch wood*). Can you please tell me what is the disadvantage of activating with an official SIM and then switch to a unofficial SIM?

Thumb down; jailbreak IS what's holding the release right now. Read Update 2 carefully before making requests that doesn't make sense.

Check the video; Ultrasn0w have quirks to work out, and they're aiming for it to be released on Friday.

Heh, -56p and counting. Just be patient and you'll get your jailbreak soon enough.
