The Wyoming State Forestry Division is reporting that the Ghost fire, which started on Tuesday, is 10 miles west/southwest of Sundance and is estimated at 1,000-plus acres. They say the Ghost fire is 10 percent contained.

We’re getting incomplete reports from the Forest Service on two supposed wildfires in the Newcastle vicinity. First reports indicate the Oil Creek fire has burned 3,100 acres just northwest of Newcastle along Highway 16. A second report indicates the Highlands fire is also along Highway 16 thirteen miles southeast of Newcastle. There are no reports indicating how large the Highlands fire is at this point. We'll have complete information on these fires as we gather more information.

For the firefighters battling the Cato Fire near Buffalo, the library in Clearmont was taking donations of drinks and food items like granola bars, chips and cookies as of yesterday—basically anything that is easy to carry while crews are fighting fires. We have not heard about donations for the firefighters fighting blazes in other parts on the state or in nearby states.

KHSL Television in Redding, CA is reporting that the Gillette man accused of killing an 11-month old boy attempted to kill himself Sunday afternoon in his prison cell. KHSL says Christopher McDonald is in critical condition at an area hospital.
