It was spam - so it didn't show up.

The stupidity I encounter when trying to discuss politics is burning me out. I needed a breather.

Only a minor set back - It's not over yet.

@ s1w

Have you had a chance to review the Republican proposals yet?

The only instance (perhaps the only one that stands out in my mind anyways) of this is, is with Rep. Wilson being called a racist, by some, for shouting out 'you lie' to the president. To me, I thought it was an unfair label as there was no compelling evidence for such a charge. Yes, he made some shitty comments concerning the bi-racial daughter of Strum Thurman and advocated for the confederate flag in South Carolina. Both points have merits for racial insensitivity or just insensitivity. I think there is a line to be drawn when attaching racism.

I really do not see evidence of people being called racists for opposing Obama on policy. If you would, point me to some examples of this so I can see where you are coming from.

So none of the hateful images or speech resonates with you in any manner. It has nothing to do with race and racism against this president just doesn't exist? Really?

Yes and no. I think there is a racist faction which tries to discredit Obama's presidency. I think you see that in the birthers, those who believe Obama is a "secret muslim" and those who like to paint him as a radical, reparations seeking, community organizing black man. There is an obvious racial element for some who oppose Obama and we can not ignore that. However, I do not think that all opposition is derived from racist attitudes - not at all.

I'd like to think that Obama will be successful in his administration and history will judge him based on his successes, not his race. I think people are going to tire of the rhetoric soon. I am seeing indications that people on both sides are starting to distance themselves from it now. Hopefully others will start to follow.

I am tolerant. Really, really, really tolerant actually but that doesn't mean that I have to be tolerant all of the time. I don't respect truthers anymore then I do birthers, deathers or tenthers. I don't care if you are a liberal pedaling a conspiracy theory or a conservative - I am going to mock you.

And the reason I am pointing out astroturf is because it is so blatantly obvious. It is important to know who the players are in the health care "debate" and I would expect the same to be pointed out if the left was doing it. Saturday wasn't about free speech, there was an agenda and corporate shills backing the event. How can you deny that?

Although the shooter in question targeted others not holding anti-choice views, it appears this man was targeted specifically for his views/tactics.

It was a despicable act and my thoughts go out to the families who lost their loved ones by the hand of this unhinged individual.

I read about it this morning but at the time there were little details. I am on my lunch break - will post in a moment.
