100% agree with Ryan S. I'm pretty sure the boy reporter was/is relatively popular down here in Australia, too. I remember whiling away a rainy afternoon as a kid, eating salted peanuts and reading The Black Island cover-to-cover. Bliss.

I doubt it will be as revolutionary as the original; more likely these days it will come across as a regular (although possibly cool) cel-shaded affair that fans of the original will vigilantly decry no matter what.

That being said, the graphic designer in me holds out hope that it's an explosive orgy of great motion graphics with bold use of colour, all warping and crunching into interesting shapes that are fighting to stab me in the eyes.

Oh, and also the sad hetero male in me holds out hope that Olivia Wilde is frolicking around in a Yuri outfit. If that happens this film is nothing less than a BILLBOARD-SIZED 'YES'.

I can think of toy-pushing flicks I'd want to piss all over before this hypothetical slice of celluloid comic action got made... *cough*robosapien*cough*

Just on the title treatment: way to suck all the dynamic flair and any sense of vital nostalgia out of it. Could it be any more 'generic action flick' in its presentation? Sheesh.
