darrenju makes a lot of good points, and I agree that starting Bauserman and putting Pryor at WR will not happen this year. Now, maybe after the season is over and through spring practice, Tressel may re-evaluate the situation. He doesn't make kneejerk reactions based on one or even several games, but over a longer hall. You could see it in the transition from Zwick to Smith several years back. My doctor is an Oklahoma fan and we've talked about the Buckeyes an Sooners in that both really need to find a way to win a BCS game. Very frustrating to say the least.
Tyrell Pryor is a true talent, but it comes from the running slant. In high school, he was a god, but in college, everyone is better, and it becomes a great leveler for all. He needs to work on the passing game, but right now he's thinking too much about that and becomes hesitant (read not comfortable). That's taking away from both sides of his game. I still think he'll progress, but it may not be pretty for awhile. Purdue was inspired and OSU was not yesterday and the result is what happens. I've been a longtime Buckeyes fan since 1967, and have seen many ups and downs. This game yesterday was one of those downs and my expectations for this year have been lowered considerably. Hope springs eternal, Go Bucks, right that ship quickly!
I know it's not technically correct (the seventeen is there, but not 5,7,5). It's still my thoughts on the game. Go Bucks!!! OH-IO
Defense shuts down the run
Pryor runs around the edge
Buckeyes win game
Thanks for the info Cassius... didn't know about the new Big Ten rule. They probably had a good reason, but I can't even guess what it would be. I'm not much for looking ahead, just play each team as they come (there's no more gimme's in college football... although Florida vs. Charlston Southern comes to mind. Go Bucks! Beat the Badgers!!
Several more upsets in the works this weekend so far. Illinois over OSU will NOT be one of them. Just let the players play and the Buckeyes will be fine today. Let's see who else, though, stumbles today ahead of Ohio State in the polls. Go Bucks! OH-IO!!
A whole lotta season left and everyone is getting into the meat of conference play, which always means, beating each other up. No time to throw in the towel, just play!
Injuries are never something you look forward to, but something you need to be prepared for. Shuffling the O-Line is one of the toughest things any team has to do, although, you play the hand you're dealt. Good Luck to Shugarts... make the most of the opportunity. To Cordle, get well soon and return wherever the fit is right at the time. Go Bucks!! OH-IO!!
I had to watch the game on TV, 800 miles away, but the crowd did their thing, the players did their thing, and the coaches let everybody down. That's what hurts the worst. The Buckeyes had the talent and efoort to win this one. I don't want to just play with anyone in the country, I want to be able to beat anyone in the country! This is a teachable moment, not for the players, but for the coaches. Now go forward and get better from the experience.
