Hopefully they'll have enough sense to mothball these seven cruisers in the event of unforeseen necessity, rather than waste them in a SINKEX like they did with most of the Spruance class and the previous decommissioned Ticonderoga class ships. It's a hell of a lot cheaper and quicker to return these ships from the mothball fleet than it would be to build replacements to replace losses in the event of a war.

Congress and the American public should be more outraged that any tax dollars are being spent to purchase items of national security interest from a Communist country that is our most likely enemy in a future major war. Would we have allowed US defense contractors to purchase Soviet made parts during the Cold War? Absolutely not, and for the same reasons. Does China care if the parts work? It's not in their national security interests to sell their adversary parts that work. My father fought to leave a Communist country during the Cold War and is probably rolling over in his grave with how the US is willingly enabling a Communist country to overtake us. It's a national disgrace and a national security issue.

This is ridiculous. The prototype flew over 10 years ago coast to coast and still it's yet to be fielded. This is what happens when design requirements are constantly meddled with and you expect a plane to be a aviation equivalent of a Swiss army knife. Go back to no nonsense affordable task specific aircraft designs. At this rate it'll cost more than the F-22 and not do any task better than the legacy aircraft it is meant to replace.

The politicians and defence dept sure as hell don't learn from history. In world war 2, it was'nt for the most part the quality of our weapons , and that of our allies, that helped us beat the axis powers. It was the fact that we could out produce them in manufacturing by having simple and reliable weapons. No need to get overcomplicated in your procurement of weapons systems. As nice as the F-22 and F-35 are, if our enemy can afford to field 3 planes for every 1 we build, we're going to have problems. Hell not only have we gotten over complicated in these systems, proven designs like the F-14 and A-10 get killed early at the expense of them. And great idea to kill 2 carriers at a time when the chinese and russians are flexing there muscles on the seas. It's not like WW2 where we had the luxury of time and distance. If we ever lost a carrier in combat, we would'nt have time to replace it, not when it takes 6 years to build.
