I don't know if there is enough mercury in a CFL to do anyone serious harm, BUT. The same lunatics who want to put a delicate, easily-kid-accessible, less-than-optimal-performing device in every fixture of every room of your house, also want to remove the mercury-driven thermostat from your home, which is usually permanently attached to the wall in a not-easily child-accessible location. If flourescents aren't turned on and left on, they are not energy efficient in the first place. But the details of all this aren't important. What is important is that it is all based upon a lie. When God created the Earth and everything in it for man to use, he created enough of it. And the things he created to sustain man aren't going to destroy the Earth. And when man finds something other than wood which is easier or more efficient or suits him better or lasts longer, like oil, he will use that. And as man grows wiser and more ingenious and closer to God, he will discover other things. Leave man alone.

As long as Lisa Jackson is able to make statements using so-called "greenhous gases" and "Pollution" in the same context, the EPA will get away with it. Defunding is only part of the solution. First, states, like Texas, need to make it clear they will not be ruled. Second, the EPA and a host of other agencies, departments and commissions need to be ABOLISHED, and finally. the word "grant" needs to be banned from the American lexicon.
