I have over 400 DVD's but except for older blu-rays I find for <$10 or a very small selection of new releases that grab my attention I won't buy them. I understand blu-rays costing more than DVD's due to the higher quality and newer tech, but now that blu-ray players are pretty common and not just in the hands of early adopters they shouldn't cost more than $20 and DVD's being old tech that everyone is phasing off of should be lower. $15 max. If blu-ray would of taken DVD's place in the market, by remaining at the DVD price, and DVD's were lowered I'd bet they'd make up the difference in initial price with the increase in sales. I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling that $20 is the sweet spot for new release movies on disc, and unless it's something I really really want I won't pay any more than that. Which means I find some other way to watch the movie, and then maybe if it's a good enough movie will buy it when I see it for sale. When the studios expect you to drop $35+ on a 2 hour movie when the going price has been $20 for years is it really a surprise that people say screw that and go to red box, netflix or the pirate bay instead. I know I'd buy a lot more blu-rays if the price was lower. And with the slow speed at which it happened, I agree with you that the victim here doesn't appear to be at fault. The point I was trying to make though, was that just because you cross at a crosswalk it doesn't mean the driver is automatically at fault and should go to jail. And I showed an example of why with what happened to me recently. Where someone walked out in front of my truck and was almost invisible due to the unlit crosswalk and the person wearing all black. Should drivers be more aware of their surroundings? Absolutely. But at the same time I think pedestrians should always assume that driver doesn't see you, and isn't going to stop just because you're in a crosswalk. Streets are for vehicles. Look out for your own safety. Wait until there are no cars coming to cross. Sure in a perfect would, every driver will see you. Every driver will stop and let you pass, but this isn't a perfect world and that is never going to happen. Make sure you have plenty of time to cross or that all vehicles are stopped in all lanes of traffic before stepping into the street.
