Please stop referring to her as "he" or "him." She's a woman. If a horse has a horn surgically implanted on its forehead, does that make it a unicorn? No. It makes it a horse with a horn sewn to its head.

If it had basis in Scripture, it would be mentioned elsewhere in Scripture. There would be a line somewhere that said something along the lines of "Got a loved one that dead and lost? Get baptized for them to save their soul." But alas, there's no such line or principle in Scripture.

Mormons, Muslims, Hindus, and atheists can all be great people in this life. It doesn't take away from the fact that their theological views don't mesh up with the Bible. As Christians, it's our job to present the Word, and if the recipient accepts it, great! If they don't, we're still allowed to go golfing with them on Saturday, because Christianity doesn't command us to kill the infidel.

I've read the Book of Mormon. Not in depth, I'll admit, like I have the Word of God, but I have read it. Paul is mocking those that "baptize for the dead." Read the context, Walker. I don't engage in the practice, because baptism is a personal choice, and a command to believers that are alive. Baptism for the dead is just as heretical as infant baptism because it has no basis in actual Scripture.

I have to respectfully disagree with a couple of points. The Bible is not open to our interpretation. Truth is truth, no matter what you or I think about it. Now, I've often wondered "how can I NOT personally interpret it?!?" But then I realized that I have to just take it for what it says. God will never reveal anything that is contradictory to His Word, because He IS the Word. The Bible is "Jesus in convenient book form" (patent pending, haha). Remember that everything Jesus did in the NT was prophesied about in the Old Testament. If the Book of Mormon was truly part of Scripture, then it would be considered part of the New Testament, since we still live in the New Testament (New Covenant) Age. But since Joseph Smith's "revelations" have no Old Testament type or shadow, they simply are not biblical.

Mormons are great people who love their version of Jesus, but they need to realize that they need to start following the REAL Jesus--the One who created ALL things and is the One, True Heavenly Father.

We may disagree on theology, but let's agree to work together to help make this nation great again. I've enjoyed the discussion, but I'm tapping out for the night. Take care and God bless! =)

Walker, you and I can profess to be Martian cowboys, but it doesn't make it so. Yes, Mormons claim to be restoring the true gospel, but if they were, then there would be a record of their doctrine in the Bible. Unfortunately for them, there is not any such record. Again, what I'm saying is that to truly be considered "Christian," a group must line up with the original Christians, and the Mormons, theologically speaking, do not. Peter preached the very first Christian sermon on the Church's birthday on the Day of Pentecost. Any sermon that contradicts Peter's message is, by definition, heresy. As far as Protestantism being removed from Catholicism, we have to first remember that Catholicism didn't actually start until AFTER Nicea (Peter was not the first Pope, seeing as how he died centuries before the Catholic Church began), and they changed many beliefs of the "Church." Infant baptism, the Immaculate Conception, Purgatory, etc, are not biblical doctrines, so it was the Catholic Church that removed itself from original Christianity. The Protestant Reformation was simply the first step in the restoration of the original Church.

I don't believe Mormons are an evil people. Quite the contrary. Like I said before, I hold them in the highest regard as far as their moral stances, their family values, and also their outreach. I believe they are, as much as a group of humans can be, are truly "Christ-like," but only in their actions. While faith without works is indeed dead, works without Truth is, in the long run, not what makes a person saved. I wish it were not the case, but I'm just trying to be in the Book here.

I'm not deciding anything, Walker. I'm just an originalist. If a church professes a different gospel from what the first Christian church (Peter, Paul, James, John, etc.) believed, then they are simply not Christian. Some of the beliefs that came out of Nicea contradicted actual Christian belief, so Nicea is not actually a Christian event. That's the argument I'm making. Since Momonism contradicts the original doctrine of the Apostles, then according to Galatians 1:8, they are not Christians. I'm the type of guy who wishes everyone gets into Heaven except the most evil among us, but I'm not God, and I didn't make the rules. God's universe, God's rules.

Actually, anyone who reads the New Testament with an open mind recognize that Jesus is the Messiah that Jews were waiting for. That Messiah is God (the ONLY God) in the flesh. If you read the NT, you realize that Jesus is the fullness of the godhead (Col. 2:9), He is the I AM, He is the Creator, He is God in the flesh. Not a "part " of God, or a deputized deity, but the One, True, Living God and Heavenly Father, come in the flesh. That's why Mormon doctrine falls outside of what should be considered "Christian." Again, that said, they're great people. They just have been deceived. Being deceived doesn't make you evil. Romney and Beck are awesome guys. Harry Reid, on the other hand......

And that's where you go wrong. Jesus and the Heavenly Father are not two different people. They are One and the Same! I have no doubt that Moroni visited Joseph Smith. But Moroni was a fallen angel, and a deceiver. Galatians 1:8 warns us that if a man, or EVEN AN ANGEL, preaches any gospel other than what the apostles taught, then they will be damned. Unfortunately for Moroni, he's followed Lucifer's example and fallen into eternal torment. That said, I wish I had the zeal and good heart that most Mormons seem to have. I hold you guys in the highest regard as far as family values and morality. I just hope you ditch Joe Smith's false doctrine some day.
