I understand the phrase well enough, I just think it's overused and thrown around like it's the secret key to sounding like a smart basketball fan. If anything I was hoping to prove with these statistics that great teams win championships and not defense.

Teams that work together on both ends of the court are the truly dominant teams. I think it was also a good article to point out that points per game is a ridiculous statistic because it doesn't take efficiency into account like points per 100 possessions.

Interesting point in that you support LeBron and Nike but don't you think that because they tried to confiscate the video that it's getting so much more press than it deserves? What player HASN'T been dunked on?

The best shot blockers in the NBA were the ones that you always see get posterized because they are willing to give it their all every chance they get and try to get that block even if they knew they were going to be inches too short and fractions of seconds away....

I would easily take Wade and Bosh over LeBron. In fact, Wade and Bosh would probably be a one of the best 1-2 punches in the NBA.

I think that if a team is going to focus on one aspect, be it defense or offense, they must be able execute their game plan really, really well. Otherwise, it's not gonna work. If you plan to use both, you should likely be top 7 and more likely top 5 in each category.

The stats prove that it's tough to win a championship but they also prove that multiple methods do exist. With 99% of the population religiously believing that defense wins championships, I think these stats should prove that it's not the case. Obviously defense is a big part of a team's success but that's not the angle I wanted to go with this article.
