We have "at will" employment, which means your employer can terminate you for any reason, or for no reason. You can also quite for any or no reason. I'm not convinced that these folks are the victims they seem to think they are, at least based on those criteria. And I AM convinced that a lot of them won't be satisfied until the government mandates that we not only tolerate but embrace their various alternative lifestyles.

The public dialogue seems to be getting less civil all the time. I just hope those who are outraged by Limbaugh's statements aren't guilty of imposing a double standard. Were they equally outraged at the numerous horrible things that Sarah Palin has been called by various left-leaning "entertainers"? I would certainly hope so; otherwise one might get the impression that the outrage is motivated by politics.

Diddian, as a 5th-generation "Mormon," your comments warmed my heart. Thanks! May I always aspire to conduct myself in a way that will reflect positively on deeply-held beliefs. (I might also mention that I'm lukewarm at best regarding Mr. Romney. I wish he was more dyed-in-the-wool conservative. He certainly won't get my vote just because our tastes in "underwear" are similar!)

Fridays - right on! It may have been plagiarism of SNL, but I sure liked it. Michael Richards was excellent! Definitely had some "Kramer vibe" going on already - the physical gags, etc. When he did "Battle Boy," I laughed 'til I cried! Mom hollerin' out the window at him: "You just wait 'til your dad gets home, little mister!" ... as he burned up his sister's Barbie dolls, etc. I was deeply in love with Melanie Chartoff... sigh... I took my 5-year-old granddaughter to see "Hugo" at the second-run place. Last Tuesday - Dollar Night! So our seats cost 2 bucks. Sweeeeet! (And good movie!) The seats are comfortable. The place is reasonably clean, the rest rooms slightly less so. The only things that detracted from the experience: - People who walked in 15 minutes late, and then stumbled over everybody's legs and feet to get to empty seats, - Deafening volume level. What's with that? Do they have to turn it up that loud, so all the deaf kids (you know, from too much super-loud "music") can hear? I don't think I've EVER seen a move that would've been worth $14.50 per seat. Ouch!

The Florida Primary (like those that preceded it) is an unfortunately-ugly attack fest, with Romney being painted as a liberal (with some evidence that can't be denied), and counter-charges that Newt is more liberal than he likes to let on. Obviously pandering to the more conservative base of the GOP. Assuming Romney is the GOP nominee, I believe the race against Obama will be ugly, but NOBODY will accuse Romney of being more liberal than the incumbent. (No doubt Obama will emphasize "Romneycare," which in itself will be pretty ironic - beating on your opponent with the one issue in which you may have similarities.) What Romney can likely count on is that there's a lot of "Anybody But Obama" sentiment out there. (I'm not enamored with any of the 4 GOP candidates, but I'd vote for ANY of them in a heartbeat, over Obama.)

I've consistently found ACHD to be very responsive to the public. And based on my admittedly-limited exposure to the world's roads, I'd say Ada County's are well above average. None of that excuses ACHD from reimbursing Mr. Lawson, based on the facts laid out in this story. Sounds like they oughtta man up and grudgingly part with a few taxpayer dollars, and try to be more careful in the future.

One of my favorite scenes hasn't been mentioned. Philoe is standing at the shore of a small lake, fishin' pole in hand. The redneck, out-of-his-jurisdiction sheriff is sneakin' up on him, hoping to take him by surprise and into custody. As he sneaks, he mumbles to himself, "Stinkin' hippie..." (It's just so funny because Philoe is the farthest thing from being a hippie! If you revisit "Every Which Way...," watch for that one-liner moment.) Dunno about Eastwood's womanizing. I try not go get all caught up in who's sleeping with who in Hollywood. Ech!
